Why to worry if you pull for LSU...

As a Bama fan, I am worried for all the reasons wailed and hashed out ad nauseam all over the board as we await Saturday's big game. However, in the spirit of fairness and balance, these are a few reasons why I wouldn't be overly confident if I were an LSU fan:

1. Les Myles. He has Nick Saban's players, but his track record didn't merit an NFL coaching offer and the man whose did is no longer coaching for the Purple & Gold.

2. Home field advantage. LSU hasn't won a road game this year against a team still ranked in the top 25. Of course, niether has Alabama, but as the Tide is the home team, we'll let that slide. ;) Point being is the jury may still be out on both Myles and the Tigers with respect to playing a highly ranked team in a big time, hostile environment.

There are more I could think of such as:

3. Has LSU played a passing team?

4. Has LSU played a strong defensive team?

5. Has LSU beaten a team this season with an experienced coaching staff? (Tubby doesn't count due to 5 missed field goals -- Aburn gave this away)

I think there are some legitimate questions left to be answered regarding Mile's Bengals. What do you think? RTR.

Emotion is going to play a BIG part in this game...

And, after attending the UF game earlier this year...I know what the "newfound" BDS atmosphere is like...have they dealt with this hostile of an environment yet? We'll see...

Why to worry?

Their coming to our house and I feel we are a team of destiny in 05. Maybe it's just my crimson glasses I wear but some how some way we are going to get #13 this year.

Wait, wait, wait, LSU won that game. Auburn did not give anything away. They executed poorly in the FG department and lost to LSU. If we go down this road then Ole Miss gave us the win with the 2 back to back penalties that stalled their red zone drive. The Vols gave us a win by fumbling their game-winning touchdown. Miss St. gave us a win with their fumble and interception. No team gives a win away.

Analyzing team is fine and you have made some good points. Let’s avoid taking away credit where credit is due. I am no fan of LSU or Auburn, unless they are in a bowl game. Then I am all for every SEC team, but we do a disservice to everyone when we disclaim a victory even by our opponents.

I think the next 2 games could go either way. I look forward to them. I welcome strong opponents and hope they play the very best they can so our victory will be the sweeter.

Yes, they played an all out Passing team in Arizona State and very nearly lost to them. Then again, Stanford beat ASU so who knows.

Auburn's defense is quite good even though they can't feed themsleves or tie their own shoes, but nonetheless, Auburn could've had them beat at night in their house. Frankly, I think playing Auburn among the manure piles is going to be a much harder test, but even when one team was struggling in the past, it has been a close game (look at the first half of the game last year).

Yes, Auburn has failed both of their two tests this season. And partially, that's what gives me hope. What I mean is, things have been going our way all year and against Auburn (the picks against GT, the missed FG against LSU). So, let's whoop 'em.

Let's just hope the OL has a great game and the new center, whomever it may be, never fumbles a snap, very few false starts, etc. etc.

Just as a side note, that play was 3rd and goal, and the ball carrier was going down at about the 3 yard line as the ball came out. Even if he had hung on to the ball that would not have been a touchdown. At best, they would have kicked a field goal.

I just thought i'd chime in on that because the media keeps saying that would have been the game winning touchdown.

Could be. All I thought was he was going to score and then we forced the fumble. Hehehe... either way, we won.

1. Their offense is bad, and our defense may be the best in the country.

Now for the reasons Alabama fans should worry about LSU:

1. Our offense is worse, and their defense is one of the best in the country.

:D

That said, the score will probably be in the 30s.

ASU threw for more than 400 yds, I think. LSU could have easily lost that game. Awbun threw for a bunch and their receivers dropped about ten more. the hillbillies mounted that second-half comeback primarily with passes. No question--the weak link to the LSU D is the secondary. If brody has time to throw, he COULD have a very large day.

Or he could end up on his back a lot. The LSU D-line is very good, and our O-line has had problems recently with the pass rush.

And Awbun had a RB that went for over 200 yds. Could KDarby have a big day? I certainly hope so...

If you miss two field goals and lose by 4 points, you didn't give a game away. However, if you miss 5 you did.

After you miss 3 field goals, its time to start going for it on 4th down. :) RTR.

First off its Miles, not Myles, and I am not a fan of Miles (yet). So you wont get much argument from me.

Couple of comments.
LSU dropped two TD passes that hit the chest of LSU wrs against Auburn, so if you going to say that you can say LSU kept wareagle/plainsmen/tigers in the game (And missed a FG themselves)

LSU has a great Defense as Alabama does, so if you were a betting man take the under.

I think its going to be an epic SEC battle, I dont think Bama fans nor LSU fans have any reason to think to date one team has done things to clearly seperate itself from the other. You have home field advantage but LSU has won there recently. So who knows. Fact is its not going to be blowout I dont think either way.
Our coaching staff has something to be desired. So he could easily cost us the game, but I am no Less Smiles fan.

Fact is you got the two best teams in the SEC going at each other, you cannot say LSU didnt win ball games, of course they won, no more or no less then Bama beat UT 6-3 or scored NO offensive TD's agains Miss State. Matters not when its all said and done its a W.
I would not put TO much stock in the App State game, the entire day fans included it was like people where going through the motions, I have seen more emotion on a field during band practice then the Tigers and Death Valley had that night, I dont forgive it, but their hearts where not in it.
Also why blitz and bring it against North Texas ? the final was 56-3. LSU was basically trying to get the game overwith.

Good luck, its great to see Bama back..

Geaux Tigers.

All true...

In the UT game, Brodie overthrew two open TDs by inches, which, if they had been caught, would have stilled some of the criticism of "no 'O'" - not only LSU drops passes, either. I see it the way the bookies and bettors do - tight. What I can't explain is the irrational exuberance on your LSU boards. It appears that, to most of them, this game is in the books and they are arguing about the SECCG. The last bunch of fans I read feeling a little sorry for us were the Florida bunch...

One question for you . How did Auburn give the game away? We missed two touchdown passes in the endzone. Not only that but we also missed two field goals. So we missed out on a possible 20 points. Where as Auburn missed 5 field goals accounting for 15 points missed. Before you make a post, do some research next time. LSU was practically trying to give that game away.

Points missed out on in the LSU vs Auburn game

LSU = 20 (2 touchdowns & 2 Field Goals)
Auburn= 15 (5 Field Goals)

I'm not about to disagree, but if you ask any aubie, they'll swear they haven't been beaten by anyone this year. The 2 losses they've had were both "giveaways", because they just decided to not win.. Who at AU makes those decisions?
