I dunno I can't say I have that same fire in the gut hatred of Miami anymore, I don't much like them. I like to see Texas A&M get whenever I can for various reasons not just one.

Is Coach Stallings still a member of the board?

yep till 2011

I don't know who I want to win or who will win. I think the Aggies are probably a little better, but Miami is at home. This is the Tubby-might-coach-there-one-day Bowl.

Honestly I wish most Tide fans would continue the long tradition of tacit support for A&M; given the history of connections between the 2 schools. Fran doesn't even deserve the attention he gets on this board, is failing at A&M and quite despised in College Station by many fans (or will be soon enough), and he certainly is not important enough to impact decades of goodwill between Tuscaloosa and C.S. Gene is certainly not a fan of his.

Of course, that all having been said, the big soft spot Bear had in his heart for A&M easily could have been spoiled with what happened. Likely if he was around when it did, it would have gone down much different (i.e. better), if at all.

Trust me you should be glad enough just to be rid of him, he's not a good coach at all. Shula was/is a better HC than Fran. Roll Tide.

P.S. - in case you are wondering I am a born and raised Tide fan, my family goes back to the early 1820s in Tuscaloosa, I make as many Tide games as I can (live in Dallas, but will be there this weekend vs. UGa, as I was last year for barn), but for a littany of reasons I went to school at A&M and am a season ticket holder there. For whatever it is worth most knowledgeable A&M fans still like and support Bama.

I'm over the Fran thing as well. We are much better off without him. I hate the offense he runs, sorry Tyler Watts. I like to see us air the ball out, then run it down their thorats. It is so much fun to watch from the stands. Good riddance Fran, tow the rope somewhere else.

No way is Shula a better coach than Fran. Not even in the same stratosphere. Mike Shula would have never sniffed a HCing job on his own merits. Heck, he would probably be unemployed today if he weren't Don's kid. I have no use for Fran, but at least he made his way in the coaching profession on his own.

Its all bout the U. My goodness people. I hope Fran loses every game he ever coaches. He is a liar not to just to the Bama Nation. He lied to the players. He disrespected this FAMILY. Oh please, orange and green, conjure up the spirit of Testaverde, Irvin, and Highsmith and pound this gutless overpaid phony.

Pull for A&M? Please

I hated them before Fran went there. They don't even sell out their games. Guess the 12t man is just to hungover these days to make it to the game.

In a perfect world, Fran would coach at the original Thug U (wearing orange and green, for those slow on the uptake). The choice would then be crystal clear. As it is, I'm afraid that I must pull for the asteroid.:pDT_bam:

Tommy, that may be the case, it was an example for exaggeration. Fran is not a good coach. A good year or two at TCU with LT (vs. very weak competition) and one good season at Alabama, and EVERY Bama coach has at least one good 10 win or SEC champ. season (see Shula and/or Dubose). Fran is NOT a good coach. No commitment to D, his O is dysfunctional, avg. special teams, terrible (emphasis added) game-day decision making, etc., etc. He would have dragged Bama down big-time, though it still would have been OK as Alabama football is bigger than any one person and can sustain itself. He couldn’t cut it in the SEC, he can’t even cut it in the Big XII. He’s also not a very good person, as evidenced how he left Bama, and is protected by his PR lackey McKenzie.

Cornbiscuit, that’s an odd reason to hate A&M. So I guess you hate 95% of college football programs. Not all of them have as many “t-shirt fans” as most of the big SEC schools (i.e. no affiliation other than living in the state/area). So I guess in your myopia, by extension, you hate Gene and everything he did for Alabama?!

Anyway, I expect Miami to win tonight, too much speed for the slow A&M squad. The good news it is a free weekend for me so I can get to Bryant-Denny for a big game.

Bamachile, in a truly perfect world he'd get fired and replaced with a good coach, so both my favorite programs would have a good future, not just Bama.

Roll Tide. See you on the Quad tomorrow.
