Just when it seemed like we were out of the picture for Jamal Patterson, he visited Tuscaloosa this past Saturday for the scrimmage, and now it seems like we are very much in the mix again.

Chris Jackson is really helping us with this one after all.

Another good pickup for the Cats. Brooks is slowly building a solid talent base there.
Ah, I don't know.

He's not doing anything overly impressive, in my book. If you look at this class aside from Mossakowski and Simpson, it's a bad class. Of their sixteen commitments, they have only one commitment rated as a four-star or higher, and there are a ton of two-stars with very low level offer lists.

Getting the commitment of Simpson is nice, but frankly that is one they had to get. I mean this kid grew up in Lexington, and he is a Kentucky legacy. There is no way you should ever miss on a kid like that.

Don't get me wrong, I really admire what Brooks has done at Kentucky. Back-to-back bowl victories in Lexington is really something special, but the outlook for them is still pretty bleak. They are still racking up almost entirely on in-state prospects who generally aren't very good, and out-of-state prospects who have been passed over by everyone else. Kentucky is always near the bottom of the conference in terms of overall talent level, and I don't expect that to change in the coming years.

The proof is in the pudding BET. All you have to do is look at the results over the last few years to tell that Brooks and Co. are elevating the level of talent at UK. Are they building it up to elite status, no but I never said they were, but what they are doing is bringing in enough talent to where they're competitive and no longer a cellar dweller in the SEC. As I said, he's building a "solid" talent base there, the problem of course is that in the SEC "solid" talent isn't enough to compete with the league's elite on a yearly basis. What they have started to become is a credible threat instead of merely an afterthought.

Atlanta Punter Chris Williamson is an Alabama prospect.

Marist’s Chris Williamson hopes for Alabama offer
Marist punter Chris Williamson said he is under consideration for a scholarship offer from Alabama after being named “Best Punter” at the Crimson Tide’s camp earlier this summer.

“I kicked it well, and Alabama said they liked what they saw,” Williamson said. “They said they weren’t sure whether or not they were going to offer a punter this year. They hadn’t made up their minds.

“[Alabama] told me to send them film from my first few games and then they would take it from there. That’s pretty exciting, to be considered.”

Donovan Tate (listed as an athlete on the prospects list) has chosen to give up football in favor of baseball.

http://www.ajc.com/search/content/printedition/2008/08/19/hsnoplay.html?cxntlid=inform_artr
Well Tate is back playing football. I added him back to the prospect list. I still believe he will end up playing baseball though. You never really know though in recruiting anything can and usually does happen.

Cartersville baseball star Tate returns to football
Donavan Tate, the prize baseball prospect who had decided to skip his senior season of football, has changed his mind again.

Tate returned to football practice Monday and is open to scholarship offers in both sports. He is listed on the AJC’s The Georgia 150 list and is a Super Southern 100 selection.

“He told me it’s not about any scholarships but that, ‘I don’t want to look back on my senior year and regret not playing football,’ ” Cartersville football coach Frank Barden said. “You can’t foresee the future, but yes, you’d think there are still going to be opportunities for him in both sports.”

Bama Mag: Clint Moseley Profile
Stars of Alabama 1A-3A

Clint Moseley
Quarterback, 6-4, 190 lbs.
2A Leroy

Moseley has two state championships under his belt and just about every superlative trotted out to describe the affable leader. The one that describes him best is consistent.

Moseley had another stellar night leading his Bears to a 36-9 win over 4A Clarke County. The senior completed 14-of-21 passes for 260 yards and rushed for 63 yards on 12 tries. His good friend, Aerik Davis, was on the receiving end of six of his passes for 128 yards and a touchdown.

This AJC article is a couple of weeks old but it has some good info on RB Demond Dennis about Bama offering him a scholarship as a CB only. I moved him from the RB prospects to the CB prospects in the Alabama Commitments and Prospects List.

Carver RB Dennis mulls over Alabama and Auburn offers
Demond Dennis of Carver, Atlanta was thrilled to learn earlier this year that he had received scholarship offers from SEC powerhouses Alabama and Auburn.

But the euphoria subsided just a bit once he read the fine print.

“I was excited when I first got [the offers], but now they both want me to switch over to defensive back,” the 5-foot-10, 193-pound senior said. “I want to play running back.

“I haven’t had time to talk to either of them face-to-face. But I’ve been told that their depth charts at running back are full.”
