Mike Leach FIRED according to ESPN

Maybe it was james fat little girlfriend that got him fired?? :)

What a pathetic thing to do BEFORE the TRUTH ever gets to come to the surface and it will. We will find out the kid was crying over playing time and everything X-CML was done in the correct manner.. Anyone want to take bets espn WON'T cover the story of how tech was wrong and james is full of BS the way they have in slamming Mike Leach...
Oh well there are better teams out there who will need a good offensive genius to guide them...... Sad day for CFB IMO ~!~

I think TT has been begging for a reason to fire Leach for a while now.

He got a 5 year deal just 9 months ago for over 12 million. Im sure there are some folks there that wanted him gone, but obviously there are some that wanted him there too. If you ask me, 12 million for 5 years for that quality of coach is a steal of a deal.

Last year Leach won the battle when the president went over Meyers head and gave Leach a new contract but Meyers won the war when Adam James went to the shed and took off his jock strap and put on a pair of panties. The TT boards are in meltdown over the support of Leach and the second death penalty issued by Craig James.

I think ESPN and his father who is a reporter there put tremendous pressure on Texas Tech. Do you believe there has been enough time to uncover all facts on the issue to make the decision to fire him? Suspending him is one thing, firing him is another.

Not sure how you come to this conclusion as Leach was already suspended when this was first announced on ESPN. As for being fired - anyone who sues their company should be fired, whether they are right in their suit or not. You don't bite the hand that feeds you...

Agreed - and both Leach and James have been exposed through this process. No one comes out clean.

BTW, fired for cause means no payout of his contract. This is going to get ugly...

LOL several Darwin Awards should be handed out over this. :)

I wonder who will get the Oscar Darwin Award: TT, Mike Leach, Adam James, Craig James or ESPN? The suspense is killing me; but, unless TT has a really strong case, it may take a couple of years to find out who the winner will be. I'm betting it is a close race between TT and Adam James.

Also wonder how firing Leach impacts the 4 mil $ he reportedly gets to settle his contract. :conf2:

I realize he was already suspended. Its the pressure that got him fired.

As for the notion of suing your employer equals automatic termination, thats insane. So you're saying its ok for your employer to screw you over and you just gotta be ok with it?

Oh by the way, he filed a restraining order. He didnt sue them.

I think Leach brought this on his self Starting with job hunting with out Texas Tech Permission, calling players girl friends "fat little Girl Friends" and putting a kid who has been diagnosed with a concussion in a dark room, alone, standing and being told that if he left the room he would be kicked off the team.
Do I think he should have been fired...no.
Do I think he should have handled all of the above situations different... yes I do.
You Know the world we live in.
You look for a better job... your current employer is going to be mad.
You call a bunch of college girls "fat little girl friends" then yeah your going to .... off women and fathers.
And last If a kid is faking then this is not the way to deal with it.
He has a doctors excuse saying he has a concussion so untill proven otherwise you have to treat him as having one.
I'm thinking this was the perfect excuse to get rid of leach.
After the Kid dying at UCF (I think) and all of the kids saying that the coach new he was sick but ran him anyway because they though he was faking Texas Tech jumped at the oppertunity to rid themselves of him.
I think he should have been suspended and given a set of guide lines given another chance but that is just me.

He hasn't "sued" for civil damages yet, although I fully expect him to bring a cause of action for breach of contract/ defamation/ etc. He only sought a TRO until he had his due process of law. Like you later wrote, I fully expect this to get very ugly now...

Isn't it ironic that the same school that hired Bobby Knight, after he practically choked some kid at Indiana, has fired a coach for putting a kid in a dark room?

I wonder if it's the same administration there now that was there when they hired Bobby Knight? Can you imagine them answering for that?

I wouldn't want to be Adam James, if he plans on staying on the team; I don't think he will, though. I don't think he has the guts for what would come his way.

TEAM? Not just team! Bet he leaves campus, also. He'll welcome sheds and closets to hide on the Texas Tech campus. IMO, He'll be shunned, big time. I doubt the entire State of Texas will be big enough for him to hide. Bet he'll be a target for bullies. Just saying.
