The article says Bush's deposition on April 23rd will play a part in the NCAA penalties, but I wonder if that is really the case. U$C has already had their hearing without this information. Typically you wouldn't consider evidence obtained after the hearing. Of course we all know the NCAA makes up the rules as they go along and doesn't mind breaking their own rules, so I suppose if they want to consider the deposition they certainly can. I guess the REAL question is does the NCAA WANT to consider this testimony. Maybe that depends on what Bush testifies to, if he contradicts Lake's account that may give them justification to give the football program a love tap. It's also possible that the NCAA is peeved at Bush and U$C for not cooperating and embarrassed by the whole affair and will consider everything. I wouldn't place a bet one way or the other.
The NCAA SHOULD look at this, but whether they will or not is completely up to them. They rarely follow their own rules or precedent, so no one really knows what they heck they are going to do. The NCAA is so corrupt in its rules enforcement that no ones knows what to expect anymore. All the information from this deposition will be forwarded to the NCAA. The NCAA has to look at this, it would be negligent if it did not.
Vacating wins or taking away awards is not punishment that is going to have much if any effect of changing future behavior, or disciplining for past behavior. The only reasonable penalty that will do anything to punish USC is a large loss in scholarships. Otherwise, they'll keep just trucking along as normal.I read the article and I agree with the statement about taking away wins back then is like giving a dead man a ticket. They do have a lot to give up from that time period though unlike FSU in which lost regular games not championships or a Heisman trophy.
You can't "lose" a Heisman Trophy due to NCAA sanctions. It is awarded by the Downtown Athletic Club of NYC, not the NCAA. Reggie will always have that.I read the article and I agree with the statement about taking away wins back then is like giving a dead man a ticket. No deposition for Reggie Bush - looks like they're settling out of court.:rolleye2:

No surprises here.
I don't know about anyone else, but I definitely believe Carroll left before it hit the fan. Maybe its wishful thinking on my part, but the fact that Bush settled won't keep the NCAA from hitting U$C hard.Do you think this is why Carroll left town?
Person familiar with RBush settlement says its fair to suggest he didn't want to hurt alma mater further
