Think he says 2013 should begin the super conferences. In 90 days we will have more info. What do you guys think of all this super conference talk? I don't want anymore SEC teams in the league. I know Slive said he will add more if everyone else does per conference (super conference.) Getting everyone's take

Why does the SEC have to follow their lead?
We don't need to. When the Big Ten started their own network, everyone wanted the SEC to follow. What happens? The SEC lands the biggest TV deal ever with ESPN, not to mention the CBS deal, and the Big Ten Network is struggling at best. There's no reason for the SEC to expand, or become a part of some "Super-Conference".

The SEC will have to follow the Big Televen or anyone else that expands. This is a power play by Jim Delaney. Slive won't let another BCS conference pass the SEC in revenue potential, national standing, or athletic prestige. The SEC will expand, and it will do so by taking high profile, football program centric schools. After all, football revenue is what drives the bus these days.

I just don't get it. Why would we add mediocre teams like Memphis...Sorry if I offended anyone but they are just not in the SEC's league (pun intended), football-wise. I don't want to add Texas or FSU either because it makes the SEC less likely to be able to deliver a contender (be it, Bama, UF or LSU) to the BCSCG. Leave it alone...we will still be the preeminent conference no matter if the Big Ten becomes the Big 16.

If it will do away with the ncaa as the governing body, and their stupid scholorship limits, I'm for it.

Would love to see the scholorship limit gone, or raised to a reasonable number;
and would love a governing body that put everyone on a level playing field and didn't get caught up with backstabbers who spend more trying to tear down their rivals than they spend supporting and developing their own programs.

I can handle 12 in the SEC barely. I am not a fan of us not playing everyone every year. I liked how we played Vandy every year way back when

True. However, I think Slive has called Delaney's bet with he threat to expand the SEC and I do not think the Big 10 will go to 14 or 16 on the next move.

90 days may reveal the Big 10 "initial move". The ultimate expansion will take 5 years or more IMO.

I tend to agree with you, but why did Calhoun throw out a 2013 season date? Was he refering to the Mountain West conf. adding more by then?

Because of the ACC's raid a few years back, the schools in the Big East have to stay 30 something months, iirc, after notifying the leafue office of their intentions. If say, Uconn left for the Big Televen now, they wouldn't begin play in their new conference until 2013.

Sports radio here in Tampa said that the word they are hearing is this:

Adding Miami and Florida State to the SEC with possibly two other teams, as well (if the Big 11 goes to 16).

Wonder how that would shake up the divisions? What about the other two teams? Any speculation as to which ones?

Practically speaking, we would probably see Miami and FSU added to the East, but they could always put FSU in the west. That would be best to maintain a balance between the two divisions. If not, move KY or Vanderbilt to the west.
