Each team has valid reason for him to join. Seems like Bama has more reason for football and USCe has more reason for him personally. If this is a business decision, which mean people see it that way, Bama will win out but who knows
I am not worried about JC waiting until the 14th. He says he wants to take all his visits so be it. I just read their may be a few more high profile recruit waiting until after NSD so they can get their visits in.
My opinion is the longer it goes the better I like our chances and the less pressure it will have on him then if he committed to us early!
Some Bobby Carroll info for you guys:
Little history, South Pointe is a new school. Stephen Gilmore's senior year was the first Senior class to graduate from South Pointe. Bobby Carroll wanted Gilmore at Clemson or anywhere but South Carolina. Ellis Johnson won that battle and got Gilmore at USC. So the summer comes and Clowney/Carroll travel to Bama and then he gives that interview raving about Bama and just really going over the top about his time there in the summer. It made a lot of Gamecock fans mad so people began to poke and prod about BC and his relationship with USC. It was then understood that Carroll has an issue with Spurrier because Spurrier does not kiss his butt. So then Clowney's recruitment is of course a hot topic and BC continues with his public admeration of all things Bama. During HC In-Home visits, he attended when Saban came, however, when Spurrier came - Bobby was meeting with FSU coaches to help arrange an OV for Clowney. He was meeting with Clemson behind closed doors to see how they could get Clowney up there. Of course this got out and people started to get even more mad. South Pointe is located in Rock Hill, a very pro-Gamecock town. Eventually Carroll was publicly questioned on this and he said something to the affect that "USC fans can't be mad, I have sent 3 kids to USC", which is true, but Charles Holmes never qualified and Gerald Dixon is a Gamecock legacy. We had to scratch and crawl to get Gilmore. Anyhow, he has taken the York County job because he graduated HS there, they just built a brand new campus, his son is the QB there, and they are paying him a boat load of money. For a while I think Carroll knew he was taking the York job and his going away present to USC was going to be not sending Clowney there. USC has done its best to overcome Carroll who has been pretty much known throughout this whole process to be pushing Clowney elsewhere but now that Carroll is not at the school, his influence should be a little less and thats also why I think you have seen him tone down the public interviews. I'm not so sure Carroll would have many friends in Rock Hill if he decided to stay at South Pointe with the way he has been so involved in the Clowney's recruitment and pushing him away from USC. I hope this gives you guys a better understanding of the issue USC fans have with BC. I believe that no HS coach should push a kid in any certain direction towards any school. He should make sure the kid is going to qualify and be there to help advise the family if neccessary. Bobby has taken it a few steps past that.
this guy is in the know, and has impressive info.
Sounds more like a '.... homer trying to paint Carroll in as bad a light as possible...
you can interpret anything I said in any way you want. I however do not think I provided a "sour-grapes" attitude in my post about Carroll. Besides my opinion which I casually threw in that post, the rest is fact.

you are right, he is a homer. And he will fight for his gamecocks on this and any board. that doesn't mean he isn't open to other opinions. I have had a discussion via PM , and he is pretty fair and open minded. And by the way, he knows Rock Hill pretty well.Sounds more like a '.... homer trying to paint Carroll in as bad a light as possible...

I would like to think HS coaches aren't on the take or have an axe to grind and have their players best interests at heart and would offer sage advice if asked. I know this isn't often the case, sadly.
With that said, my sage-like advice is that Clowney needs come to Bama.![]()
While I agree with all of this, I am nervous of getting left at the altar a la Shula/Tebow. That would not be good.
