Isn't Trooper that grown man who wears a ballcap backwards? No wonder he has better luck recruiting kids when their parents aren't in town.
I know that this isn't necessarily politically correct to say, but it's people like Trooper that keep bad stereotypes lingering around. Just sayin'.

I agree, he needs to go back to the barner board where they appreciate his rants. If I visited a barner board and posted similar to what he posted on TF I would be banned for life.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Actually you are welcome here even if your opinion is differing. What will get you booted is coming on a Bama board and acting a fool. As much as you get "tired of" from Bama we get "tired of" from you barners.

It is quite laughable. Both fanbases think they are so superior with regards to class, moral standards etc. Yet both programs have been on enough probation and sanctions that neither one should really bring it up to the other. Both of our programs (along with many other SEC teams) have been caught cheating at one point or the other so there ya go.

Don't let it bother you. Stick around a while, post a little bit, get to know some of us and you might like it. But to be up front, this is a Bama board so keep that in mind.
OMG! Thank you. (and I actually mean that). You, along with several of my own Bama friends, are the peeps I could "hang with". We just like to "have fun" with each other. See, I do get it. I will even go as far as to say that I would not be "surprised" if something went down with Cam. I am not stupid, nor gullible. The reason we get upset is for the exact reason you brought up - BOTH of us have had enough "slaps upside the head" that we really do not need to be taking it out on one another. (BTW, I have seen several things lately about Nick's "dirty recruiting"). You call us dirty, other boards call you dirty. Kind of goes with the territory???

True about no program having a snowy white history. But my problem is what's going on today. He or she or any Auburn fan can say they hate Alabama for our arrogance and claim that Coach Saban gets "wrote up for offhanded recruiting", but that does not excuse what is going on in Lee County these days. Something really messed up is going on down there and anyone with any honesty looking at the situation can see it.

I'm not sure of the depth of it. But I can't get over the stinking smell coming from that program and what went on yesterday just amplified it.

First of all, I am a "she", not a "he". Why does every single thing that disputes what you believe have to be a rant? My post was far removed from some of the others I have seen on here. I did not call your players names or your coaches names. I just stated an opinion that NEITHER program has ever been viewed as exactly clean, yet you all never seem to admit it. That is ALL I said. I actually have no extremely deep seeded beef with Bama, at least not to the degree some Auburn fans have. I pulled for them to win the NC because of my Mom - it made her so happy and she is 84 and still yelling Roll Tide.

Just because someone calls you out on something they see differently, does not make it a "rant".

But see, that is what I do not understand??? What do you mean "what went on"? I actually think it was pretty crappy for a kid to get on National TV, commit to a school, then take it back an hour later. I believe you would feel the same way. Why even do it? How does that cause a "stinking smell" on OUR program?

From Auburn Tigers add Cyrus Kouandjio, but he later reconsiders - ESPN

McGregor also said he told Kouandjio he needed to take his time to make sure he makes the decision he is happy with. Alabama, Auburn and New Mexico are still under consideration, the coach said.

On Wednesday evening, Kouandjio posted on his Facebook page that he needs space to come up with a final decision.

"Not completely sure," he wrote. "I just wanna be around the family for a while and just wait."

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

I know you absolutely do not care, but you do know this is why most Auburn fans hate you so much? The arrogance and "we could never do anything wrong" attitude. Bama has been knee deep in about as much crap as Auburn has and even my mother admits that. She is pretty "old school" and loved the Bear (who was no saint but a GREAT coach). For you ALL to sit on here and talk crap about Trooper and Luper, when Nick gets wrote up in at least one publication a week for some "off handed" recruiting is laughable. I know this will get deleted, because Auburn fans aren't allowed and especially with a differing opinion.
Let me be clear in what I say... regardless of why you hate Alabama. There is a VAST difference in committing secondary violations and major violations in the realm of college football. Nearly every school in D1 is willing to "push the envelope" if it gives them an edge, even if they have to pay for it to a degree later. Cases in the past that are examples:

* Saban sets up videoconferences with recruits after his physical contact was cut off.
* Chizk and company use limos to visit recruits at several schools in a certain area.

Both of these tactics were taking advantage of loopholes in the recruiting rules... and both staffs have been and should be commended for "pushing the envelope" to gain an edge in the game. HOWEVER, when it has become a trend to compensate runners and people who can influence a recruit to choose your school, we are not talking about possible secondary violations anymore... we're talking about flat out cheating.

In your quest for success, you can choose to bury your head in the sand and act as if that's not happening at your university. However, I know of some Auburn fans who ARE aware of what's happening... and they are in fear that whatever dignity is left at AU is going to be stripped by the athletic program... and they clearly are expecting the ball to drop at some point on the program they have loved and supported for many years. NOW... after hearing your one rant, feel free to post... but understand more of these kinds of posts will lead you to the door. And whether you want to term it a "rant" or not doesn't change the fact that it is.

Re: Cyrus Kouandjio commits to the barn but he has not faxed his LOI in

Well, just because our transgressions are in the past doesn't mean they didn't happen or are any less significant. To be honest our entire conference over the last 20 years hasn't been viewed as the poster child for being above board. College football is a business and is full of people that have big egos, deep pockets and are very competitive. I think the Marcus Dupree and SMU stories ESPN has aired over the last few months gives a much more realistic picture of what really has gone on in big time college football for years. We all want to think our beloved programs are "different" from the others. But history has proven otherwise. At points and time in almost EVERY big time program there have been times of transgressions of cheating. Any situation in which you keep score, someone wins and someone loses and there's money to be made from it it is a breeding ground for cheating. From "white lie" cheating to "pay for play" type cheating.

Whatever Auburn has done or is doing I think will eventually come out. My personal opinion there's just too much smoke for there not to be a fire. So when they drop the hammer its going to drop hard. But on the otherside of the coin we've had our smoke and fires as well.

This is not just about Cyrus K. The reason the stink is on your program is because these kids are committed or considered leans to one school for months, then they take visits to Auburn (after not even considering them until a month ago) and all of a sudden they are screwed up in the head and don't know what to do. What it LOOKS like, is Auburn gets to these kids without their parents being present and feed them a line of bull about the competitor's school, and a line of bull about what they'll get at Auburn. It's not ethical.

The implication is that pay-for-play has occurred in the past and is still occurring. That is what the poster means by "what is going on in Lee County".

To address the many national media articles calling out Coach Saban's recruiting, well it is a given that he is widely seen as one of the best recruiters in the business. I don't know of a single case of a player being recruited when he or his family had anything bad to say about Saban or his staff. The negative articles are coming from his competitors, which is not unexpected really. The recent article from UF's president concerning grayshirting is a prime example of this. When you ask the player or player's family how they feel about it, they are fine and are happy for the opportunity to attend Bama and pay their own way for a semester. But, the UF president thinks it's unethical and that the player is being used. Well, honestly, I'll take the opinion of the player and his family over someone who is not at all involved in the process and, also, I might add, has an ax to grind.

My point is we can't do anything about the past... only the present and future. Our history is as checkered as the next program's. But what I would hope is that despite what may have went on in the past, we do it right in the here and now. I'm beginning to believe the whole process has sunk too far into the mire, though.

1) Here, you are a boog or a barner, you may choose.

2) Barners are unable to tell the truth, its OK ... boogs don't know the difference.

3) Hopefully, that poor woman had some normal children.

4) We don't care why you hate us.

kimipela,
I don't post here a ton but I read a lot and I welcome you. I like to hear both sides of the story as long as it is civil and within reason. Both fan bases do have their share of delusional fans. I'll admit that I hate AU football but I DON'T hate Auburn people. When I go to AUFamily.com, I know my limits and you should know yours here. One of the posters above said "remember that you are on a Bama site". It may not always seem fair but it is the same for me when I go to an Auburn site.
