On the other hand, I imagine Lane Kiffin felt the same way about De'Anthony Thomas, who lives in LA. Surprise! Eugene, Oregon is a short 850 mile trip.

It was reported today via twitter which is the first time that it was attributed to Clowney as saying that he is down to SC and Clemson. If Bama is still involved it seems it may just be as a hat on the table when he makes his announcement and signs his LOI. The situation could change, but I don't see that happening. If he ends up anywhere but SC I will be surprised.

I'm not counting us out until he signs a LOI to another team. We've put enough time and effort into recruiting him that I think that will give us at least a decent chance. Granted we're on the outside looking in but haven't we always somewhat been like that. This has been a great class and he would make it epic but I don't think we're completely out of it. This could be just another swerve in recruit that we see all the time. I guess Calloway and Cyrus weren't coming to us either. Let's let it play itself out and if we land him, GREAT.

I don't mean to bring this up but I've heard many times about an issue with his Dad but in the article linked a few post back his Dad talks about talking with Dabo in Florida at the Under Armor game. Seems to me like the rumors about his Dad aren't true.

Surf I agree. I said before signing day that IC would go to GA..Rome to UGA and we'd get CK. I honestly thought Clowney would stay at home. I think just like CK's parents wanted CK at Bama I think JC's mom wants him to be at home. I don't usually get it right all the time. But so far things have fallen out the way they were expected....although with CK's blip to Auburn. Did not see that coming. I'm glad we were in the running and I'm ecstatic about this class. He'll go to Clemson or SC. He said the other day that he wanted to see where the talent was going and that it would influence him. With Clemson having an awesome haul.....don't be surprised if he doesn't end up at Clemson. There's been enough drama for one year so let's look forward to 2012. It has been a great 2011 class. Let's celebrate.

I did not take it that way at all. I like your optimism and I certainly hope Clowney signs with Bama.

I just wanted to express why I don't think it will happen. It is very ironic to me that Facebook posters swayed CK to Bama and that a tweet finally convinced me to believe that Clowney will not sign with Bama.
