Always love to see a kid commit early and recruit. I think this goes a long way sometimes, in convincing other big name recruits to join the ranks.

I've seen him play basketball a few times this season and I've watched him closely. Two things really stick out:

Most obvious is his unbelievable athleticism. His 6'4" height may be a little exaggerated, but he can jump out of the gym...I'm talking two handed power dunks in traffic that shake the rafters. If he was 6'8"ish he'd be picking up major attention by basketball scouts.

But the second thing is his behavior on the court. He seems not to be stricken with an "attitude" at all. Seems quiet and humble. When he's in he just plays hard and keeps his mouth shut.

Overall, he seems to have "the right stuff" to be a star and know how to handle it!

The great thing about a prospect who's willing to be a voice to recruiting is that he's already willing to take a leadership role in this class. After this class enrolls, he'll become a leader on defense to the younger players. After that, a true team leader. A successful team needs great team leadership and Ragland is a great start to UA having continued leadership

Sounds great, can't wait to see him play. Can anyone address how he compares to Rolando at this stage (going into senior year HS)?

Considering Reggie's size as a junior, he is going to get much bigger and I see him possibly around where Upshaw is playing but being a little bigger. Him playing basketball like this is a good thing, shows us he has elite athleticism instead of just being a bull. If you watch his basketball highlights, he has a quick first step and is pretty agile for a big guy. Hopefully this translates to the football field for him.

Good to hear Reggie is doing this. Eddie Williams is doing it also. It helps when great players who are committed recruit and it also helps to have an elite QB commit early for this same reason. Hopefully Winston will be in the fold soon. Reggie is about the same size as Rolando was coming out of HS and hopefully he will play like him.

reggie will bring kwon and jameis with him, they already said they wanted to play college ball together.
They have mentioned that before but anything can change. I do see that trio committing to UA though. Alexander has to realize that if you grasp the defense quick enough and perform well that you will get a spot on our defense i.e. Nico and Mosely

The guys on the radio asked Jameis Winston to name some of the guys he had become close with in the recruiting process and Ragland was one he mentioned. Said they had known each other for years playing travel baseball against one another in little league.

As time passes more and more of us will understand just how special of a player Rolando was. There may be guys who have his size, but not his speed or football IQ. May be guys that can reach his football IQ (i.e. Trey DePriest), but don't have his size. As big as he is now, Ro was a monster when he stepped on campus. And he left that way. Rolando was just a special, special player.

That being said, Ragland's physical measurables are almost identical to Ro's coming out of high school and from the pic he looks a little thicker.

Sounds great, can't wait to see him play. Can anyone address how he compares to Rolando at this stage (going into senior year HS)?

A friend of mine who is friends with Ragland told me that today on his Facebook page, Reggie wrote something to the effect of "My boy is coming to Bama." He took it down pretty quickly though. Interesting none the less. He could be talking about a football recruit (Alexander, Winston, etc.) or his close friend Trevor Lacey. I guess we will see..

It would make my day either way.
