Devastating Tornado Damage in Tuscaloosa

Re: reports of major tornado damage in T-twon

Prayers for everyone. At this point the hope is that it's just property that's damaged. Things can be replaced...

The video is so eerily similar to May 3, 1999 in Oklahoma. Long track, F5 in a major metropolitan area. Prayers for the great State of Alabama tonight. Your Sooner brothers hearts are with you.

Does anyone have any news in the Arab area? I've been trying to reach my parents for awhile and all circuits are busy or down. I saw that it was in Cullman possibly headed that way. I do hope you all are ok!!!

I'm hearing the Krispey Kreme, Milo's, Taco Casa are gone, University Mall hammered, too...

My son's a senior up there and he's said the same thing. Krispy Kreme, Full Moon BBQ, the CVS at 15th and McFarland, all gone. He said it's a huge mess, but campus looked okay. A lot of limbs down etc but that's all he saw. Krymsonman

That's the law school in the video. If the tornado goes down one street over it blows away half the campus and kills no telling how many people.

I hadn't even thought of that! The tornado literally took the route I take to football games up 15th and past McFarland. I truly can't imagine the devastation people are experiencing. I'm praying for all of Alabama tonight. This is a tough one.

Debris from a Tuscaloosa law office was found in St. Clair County, which is the county directly east of Jefferson County/Birmingham. That's unreal...

My in-laws house in SW B'ham was damaged....lost a 200+ year old oak tree, but all people are OK. My thoughts and prayers are with everyone in north Alabama.

Just heard from a friend who is an asst coach for UA, was told multiple students have been killed. (Did not ask if they were athletes or not) Was told to pray b/c the numbers may be a lot more than a couple.....

Hog fan here from up in Fayetteville. Saw this on the national news, and just wanted to let everyone know that everybody over on Hogville is praying for you. I hope all your loved ones are safe! Tuscaloosa will be on the minds of many heading to bed tonight in Ark, we hope the best for you!

My Grandmom's house is on Eastwood Avenue right at 15th and McFarland (she died a while back, but we keep the house and stay there when we visit T-Town). Have heard from friends that it is totalled, but have not confirmed. One neighbor rode out the storm in her bathroom, another hid under a matress in their family room. Said part of the CVS landed on their house. Had they been a few feet over they'd be dead. So far none of my friends or family are seriously injured, but one or two I still have not been able to contact. Someone from my family will probably head to Tuscaloosa tomorrow, hope we can get in.

Re: reports of major tornado damage in T-twon

My in-laws live in Cottondale and as power is out, have no clue how bad things are. We've told them, but they're getting older and I'm a bit concerned about them without power over the next few days / possibly weeks. Does anyone have any concrete info regarding conditions in the Five Points area (specifically around Veteran's Memorial Pkwy and University Blvd E)?
