Well, not a bad night. Of the first 32 players drafted ten are from the SEC, and four of those are from the capstone. I would say that is a very powerful statement on what the GM's think of the SEC.

Very happy to see Ingram go to the Saints. I will be moving there in June, and now have another opportunity to see him play.

I am just so thankful that none of our guys went to teams that I cannot stand. I love where Julio and Mark ended up, and I have nothing against the Seahawks. Now I do feel sorry for Dareus, 'cause Buffalo is where great players go to die, but he still could have done much worse for himself.
Absolutely. I am happy I don't have to root against any of the Bama boys.

Not to mention I am pleased that my team did the SMART thing and took Gabe Carimi with their pick. My team definately NEEDED a young OT is the worse way.

I have liked the Panthers ever since they got Dangalo Williams, (he is from my wifes home town of Wynne Arkansas) but now I can not root for them. Such a shame that organization could not see through the used car salesman of Cammy cam. The most upset person should be WR steve Smith!

I get up this morning and realize that our guys are really gone now. I know I'll miss them. MI holds a special place in my heart as he is our 1st Heisman winner. Best of luck to all of them.

So 1st round is finished. Based on Rivals Ratings:

CAR 1. Cam Newton - *****
DEN 2. Von Miller - ****
BUF 3. Marcel Dareus - *** (Would have been **** if not for grade concerns)
CIN 4. A.J. Green - *****
ARI 5. Patrick Peterson - *****
ATL 6. Julio Jones - *****
SFO 7. Aldon Smith - ***
TEN 8. Jake Locker - ****
DAL 9. Tyron Smith - *****
JAX 10. Blaine Gabbert - *****
HOU 11. J.J. Watt - ** (First real sleeper of the draft.)
MIN 12. Christian Ponder - ***
DET 13. Nick Fairley - ***
STL 14. Robert Quinn - ****
MIA 15. Mike Pouncey - ****
WAS 16. Ryan Kerrigan - ***
NE 17. Nate Solder - ***
SD 18. Corey Liuget - ****
NYG 19. Prince Amukamara - ***
TAM 20. Adrian Clayborn - ****
CLE 21. Phil Taylor - ****
IND 22. Anthony Castonzo - **
PHI 23. Danny Watkins - ****
NO 24. Cameron Jordan - ***
SEA 25. James Carpenter - ****
KC 26. Jonathan Baldwin - *****
BAL 27. Jimmy Smith - ***
NO 28. Mark Ingram - ****
CHI 29. Gabe Carimi - ***
NYJ 30. Muhammad Wilkerson - **
PIT 31. Cameron Heyward - ****
GB 32. Derek Sherrod - ****

7 *****
12 ****
10 ***
3 **

Pretty interesting. A lot of the ***** completely lived up to their hype. While there were 13 guys that that Rivals completely missed on & when you consider the amount of ***** each year, technically they missed on all the **** guys too because based on their ratings, a **** should almost never be a 1st rounder.

6 of the top 10 were ***** guys though, so this was probably one of their better drafts.

Maybe, maybe not. I wouldn't be surprised to see guys like Cameron Jordan, Ponder, Kerrigan, and Jimmy Smith bust.... not that I don't kind of like a couple of them being picked where they were.

Also, teams need to take off their over-analysis glasses and re-check Bowers. He's a top 10 talent with top 10 production, unless Locker is the new standard for top 10 production.

Normally I would agree especially if Bowers dropped only a few spots, but when DB drops from, at one time, being the #1 pick to the 2nd round (or possibly worse) then there maybe there is something to be concern about with Bowers. This is no longer about teams trying to create a smokescreen to get a player to drop to them, I think this is a case of teams being legitimately concern about his knee.

The only one left is G-Mac wonder where he will go??
If Carpenter can get in the first round, and before Mark Ingram, I won't count out some of our fringe candidates like Dial and Alexander. Who knows...
I still think McElroy will get picked earlier than some expect. He's like Tebow in the sense that guys who like him really like him a lot. And, all it takes is for one or two to really like him to get picked earlier than expected.
