If Janoris Jenkins is projected as a 1st round dragt pick this year Dre will also go 1st round. Being arrested for pot was 1 of the few things that got JJ sent packing from UF.

This is only a big deal (in fact I saw the amount and did a double take thinking it was a typo) because it is a way to throw some rotting fruit at a player. I know weed is inherent in any program...I know this. He didn't go out and hold up some dudes in a parking lot, do they not do tests (urine type) in college? It may be he is out of the college level celebrating with friends...gets caught. Who knows. When number 4 went down in the game, Dre was a first responder to help him off the field. He obviously cares for the team. I am against Marijuana btw I am just realistic. It wasn't a large amount...he has to be excited...it happens. His time, money, prospects have fun with it.

I would be willing to bet that at least half the students on campus have smoked pot at one point or another in their college careers so it doesn't surprise me that a player is caught.

I agree... When I was on campus I knew several athletes who smoked, heck purchased a lil from one of them. Dre made a mistake and hopefully he will learn!

The only problem I have is with the faction of our fanbase who ridiculed Mathieu for getting caught, yet will defend Dre to the end.

Either situation doesn't really effect me that much so I don't care. But in my opinion it's either ok for Mathieu and Dre both or it's not ok for either one of them. It can't be ok for one and not the other.

FWIW, this is why I never piled on Mathieu for getting caught. With something like this, it's only a matter of time 'til one of your guys gets caught too....

That's a bit of a shame. I have not the least conception of the pressures these young men are under, but ideally one would say even if the substance were legal (and on balance it probably should be) it is not what one would want for one's own children, and not what you want to see from role models.

'Thug' is probably a bit strong. Didn't Michael Phelps get photo'd puffing on this? Again, not one's first choice for how people may remember you.
