Re: Johnny Manziel investigated by NCAA
What I think will happen...
They will either try to get JFF to admit to wrong doing, or get A&M to do their work for them. If neither plays ball, and JFF takes snaps on game time, then the NCAA pulls out their trump card - the "knowing they would be sold for profit" as that one has already been proven. These were autograph brokers, and he signed thousands of items. The NCAA can even hit A&M with LOIC if they really wanted to if they let Manziel play while being aware he broke this rule.
Believe it or not, unlike Newton, there's already at least one rule that has evidence of being broken - and this is the NCAA's trump card. They may very well be daring A&M to play him. Cam Newton, for all the things he had done, was still a (generally) likable personality (always smiling, trying to say the right thing) and playing for an underdog-like school (though Auburn is far from a Baylor or Vanderbilt-esque underdog). Manziel is an unlikable douche, playing for a "big money" school. Even he comes from money (unlike Newton) so his actions are "less forgivable" in the eye of public scrutiny.
If ever a case came along where the NCAA could actually appear to have teeth, this may very well be it. I don't hold out a lot of hope that justice will be served (that some rich kid decided he needed to be richer by breaking rules that less fortunate kids have adhered to all these years), but the NCAA does have that one ace up their sleeve. We'll see if they act upon it or not.
This is absolutely true. There doesn't have to be a tape or something proving JM got paid. The sheer number of items signed would require that only an idiot wouldn't know that they were headed for market. I wonder if he told the NCAA that he thought these guys were just good fans of his who wanted a few more items signed that most fans do...
