Question: Why does awbarn think we don't have a chance?

Believe it or not be there is a thread on ITAT that shows not all of them believe they'll win. Matter of fact, when I saw it this afternoon 75% of the post felt they had less than a 50% chance of winning.

The rational Barner (I know, I know) understands that Bama is the best team they've faced this year and that CNS is the best coach in football right now. Those who understand that, and there are a few of them, know it'll take more than luck for Auburn to win.

Also, just let 'em talk about "destiny." If you believe something will happen without work or effort you'll be tricked into not trying.

Remember the only place where success comes before work is in the dictionary.
I remember 'Destiny'.
Wasn't she the dancer that was Mike Price's undoing?

As for Auburn... Pretty good team, Lucky in Spades, BUT...
Undersized, with a lack of quality players off the bench.
Their modified 'Wing-T Offense' favors a running game. Can they run against our line? Don't think so.
Can they win passing the ball? Not if we cover their guys.
I would like to see a little more pressure on their QB, to see if he can make plays running for his life.

I know it would be poor sportsmanship, but I'd like to see us hold up a 'Clown' sign when they
start using their signs.
In the 3rd or 4th Qtr. I'd like to see us go hurry up offense on their defense, at least one series.

I was looking over their schedule today. They have not played one decent defense all year except for LSU and they got beat by 14 points. Bama needs to hit them right in the mouth from the start and never let up.

Here's their schedule and results. Do you see anyone on their with a defense that is anywhere close to Alabama's?

8/31
vs. Washington State
W 31 - 24
9/7
vs. Arkansas State
W 38 - 9
9/14
vs. Mississippi State
W 24 - 20
9/21
at 6 LSU
L 21 - 35
10/5
vs. 24 Mississippi
W 30 - 22
10/12
vs. Western Carolina
W 62 - 3
10/19
at 7 Texas A&M
W 45 - 41
10/26
vs. Florida Atlantic
W 45 - 10
11/2
at Arkansas
W 35 - 17
11/9
at Tennessee
W 55 - 23
11/16
vs. 25 Georgia
W 43 - 38
Look at how we fared against our common opponents.
Texas A&M 49-42
Arkansas 52-0
Tennessee 45-10
Ole Miss 25-0
LSU 38-17
Mississippi State 20-7
Keep in mind UT only scored on our mop up defense.

Please correct me if I'm wrong but Georgia's offense and defense pretty much did what ever it wanted to do in the second half of their game with Auburn this past saturday. My point here is that every body should know by now that the Barns defense hasn't stop anybody's running game all this season and their secondary is pathetic as well. If Bama can't beat the Barn turds why then they need to keep their butts in Tuscaloosa. What does every body think about it?

As usual, it comes down to Alabama. If your team shows up prepared, and executes well, Auburn has no chance. Their hope is that you will play at some level below your best, and that they will play their best. They have this hope because you have had your games like Miss State this year. What they are missing is that it is those games that get you refocused and back to playing at a high level again.

My concern is not Auburn, it is the next game - the SECCG. Saban teams have struggled the week after emotional wins.

This Alabama team has had pretty good control of its games.
No Rocky Block needed, No last play pass, no field goal contest, no down by 20.

I hear you with what Alabama team shows up but even the one that struggles & fumbles has won by at least 13.

We may just surpass the record score this year, almost did it last year but at SPI would be sweet.

I think I will take the QB, the team that has been in this position before. Not many barn players left from that 2010 season.

After 11 games you are who you are. If you've got defensive problems more than likely you're not going to fix that for the rest of the games you have. Same goes for the offense.

So "who" is Auburn. Auburn is a team with defensive problems. They give up a lot of points, plain and simple. Our offense can score a lot of points. Auburn is weak in the passing game. That is why they run the ball so much. Our defense is very good against the run. Bodes well for us.

Close, but not quite.
Yeah, I'd say Jawja was about as sure a loss as you can have and MS State required last second heroics, too. Outside of that, maybe Ole Miss thanks to Bo Wallace's pick 6 gift. They probably should have 3 losses this year. WASU played them tight but I don't think they were ever in severe jeopardy of losing that game. Combine the fact that they are a one dimensional team, we're wearing white, and they are having a Blue Out and it all adds up to a something we'll all be happy with.

A&M pretty much blew it against the boogs, too, so very well could be 4 losses.

To quote Gary Danielson "they are playing with house money". When you start winning a ton, it boosts your confidence. I'm, sure the fans are confident that the win streak will continue.

To extend the betting metaphor, Alabama is the dealer the casino sends to a hot blackjack table when they need to shut down the winnings.

And when you play with house money you get stupid and start doing stupid things. I've gambled a time or two trust me I know. :frown:

I actually view the A&M game as a hard fought win for AU. Football is a contact sport and they knocked out the primary weapon for the Aggies. I rate that game as a straight up W for them.
Barners were bragging they were going to take JF out of the game by hitting him hard. I laughed when I heard them say it cause nobody had got a good shot at him up to that point...including Bama is '12 and '13.

But then JF tweaked his knee the game before they played and IMO that was just enough to slow him down for them to get a couple of good shots on him. JF missing that series after he hurt his arm probably was the difference in the game.

Chalk it up to another "lucky" break for the Barners.

IMO, anybody that thinks either team doesn't have a chance is thinking like an idiot.
Both teams have a shot at winning. But like Finebaum said yesterday there's no way you can have watched these teams up to this point in the season, watched how they've won and not pick Bama to win this game. He said Auburn very well could win this game but A LOT of things are going to have to go right for them to win. Including Bama shooting itself in the foot on the way.

I don't agree with FBaum a lot but on this one I agree. Teams that we've played this season who have struggled on defense we've beat their brains out. No matter what their offense was like. It took a historic day in college football for Manziel and aTm to keep it as close as they did. Auburn doesn't have a Manziel. They did in 2010 but he took a pay cut and went to the NFL. :biggrin2:

Either team could win the game...which is why it's such a great game.

The thing is...the best Auburn team in a generation had to have everything go right in the second half of the 2010 game...while at the same time have everything go wrong for Alabama in that same half. So even their best team had to have all of the stars line up just right in order to get the win.

This Auburn team is not their best...nowhere near their best. So they definitely have an uphill battle from the coin toss on.

I have several *U fans as friends...most of them give their team a punchers chance... I think in all honesty they'd be happy with a competitive game...

Totally agree with what you said. This is what people don't understand about Alabama, especially Auburn fans. Look at their last win in the series. It took a lot of things going wrong for us and also a lot of right things for them to win. Wash rinse and repeat for all teams (2) that has beaten Bama since.
