Agreed. Tough way to lose. The concept of a "free play" is pretty standard for QBs.

Especially when an offsides is that blatant. Can't fault Allen but as a reason I'd try like hell not to let a ball be picked if I had no chance even if I thought it was a free play. The concept of a "free play" is pretty standard for QBs.
I don't think there is a single savvy QB out there who wouldn't take a shot if they see that a defender was obviously offsides. Russell Wilson threw the game-winning touchdown in the NFCCG on that exact type of play. That was just a savvy play.Could have been called, probably should have been called, but you NEVER assume a penalty and change your game plan on the fly like that without being sure there is a flag. Tough way to lose.
Kevin Sumlin is paid $5 million per year. He's 13-11 in the SEC. He's lost 5 of his last 6 SEC games.
Why? The man is making $5 million/year on a multi year contract. Almost all his money is guaranteed whether he is coaching there or gets fired. He is set for life financially..I bet he wishes he would have left last year when his stock was high. He was rumored to have been in the running to coach a few top-tier programs.

I had forgotten that the Arky game was at Cowboy Stadium.Wow, A&M ends up winless @ Kyle Field against conference foes. First time since 1971...
$5 million well spent, hahahahaha...
Ole Miss: L, 35-20

Manziel and Mike Evans. In all fairness though, Sumlin helped make them rich also. Both were first rounds picks..Manziel made him a rich man.
I've said for years that I think he might be a good coach, but he's literally never won anything (not even a CUSA title), so the jury is still out and it's not looking good...Manziel made him a rich man.
Financially, you're correct that he is set. Maybe he wants to live in Texas. I am just saying he had a lot more options last year and probably could have gotten a similar contract elsewhere. But if he's happy there then he did the right thing. Why? The man is making $5 million/year on a multi year contract. Almost all his money is guaranteed whether he is coaching there or gets fired. I don't remember the dynamics of his options last year but I'm not sure he had multiple, if any, $5M/year offers. I could be wrong though. I always thought A&M were bidding against themselves when they gave Sumlin that contract..Financially, you're correct that he is set. Maybe he wants to live in Texas. IIRC it was $30m guaranteed - he can leave tomorrow for another job and A&M has to pay him the balance..I don't remember the dynamics of his options last year but I'm not sure he had multiple, if any, $5M/year offers. That's what I remember also. I don't think any other programs were offering $30M guaranteed, or really anything close to that amount..IIRC it was $30m guaranteed - he can leave tomorrow for another job and A&M has to pay him the balance..
Yeah, he definitely got a good financial deal there. It was reported that he was offered a job at Auburn and I think even he said that he was offered the Phil. Eagles head coaching gig. No reports on the financials of those.IIRC it was $30m guaranteed - he can leave tomorrow for another job and A&M has to pay him the balance..
