Donald Trump is a conservative Christian man.
So is Bruce Jenner under the surgery.

Come to think of it they may be the same person. Both married 3 times, both Republicans, both from New York, both unsettled emotionally, both known for bizarre behavior, both like women (uh, sort of I guess)....

It is quite telling that so many are so angry because a man asked them to vote their consciences.

I think that stunt is going to kill any chance that Ted Cruz has in the future. I can understand standing for his own principles, but doing it on the convention floor is not the place to do it. I will say this, Ted Cruz will never be president, or come close again in the primary again.

Fair enough. That's your opinion and plenty of folks feel the same. Of course, Reagan refused to endorse Ford. Cruz is no Reagan, IMHO though. Can't blame Ted, though. I wouldn't endorse a man who insulted my wife, blamed JFK's assassination on my father, or called me a liar for months on end either. But then politics is not my forte.
I can't blame him if it went against his principles, but he shouldn't have gone on stage. Maybe he thought he was doing some good, without actually endorsing him, though.

You probably worded that better than I did. I'm just a country boy.:)

I believe the anger stems from his not keeping his pledge to publicly back the nominee. The "vote your conscious" line was weak and transparent. He is a sore loser.

That's not the issue. Cruz already has a horrible reputation for publicly humiliating high ranking republicans. If he wanted to make that statement he should have done like Kasich and stayed home and done it. Had Ted did that, then he might have a chance in 4 or 8 years, but now he is looking like that slimy used car salesman that most of his peers keep portraying him as.

How did Cruz even get on the stage? Someone asked him to speak and knew he was not going to endorse Trump. Maybe you guys should be upset at the guy who let that happen. Oh, wait, then you'd have to criticize the man himself (Trump).

I live in Texas and Ted Cruz will Never get my vote in the future. I will not vote for him as Senator, dog catcher or anything else. He showed that he has "little man syndrome". I'm also going to ask that he Not send me anymore e-mails. He's on my _ _ _ _ list.

He was asked by Trump and his speech was previewed and approved by the GOP and Trump people. They all knew in advance he would not endorse Trump. So what was the purpose?

Which high ranking Republicans? Those establishment GOP who pandered to Obama after promising to oppose him? The GOPe that Trump supporters claim to be so angry at that they want Trump?

I'm not upset at all. Actually I find it kinda amusing. Mostly because I accepted long ago that this is just one big tv reality show.

But if you want to know why it was more dumb for Cruz than it was for Trump, it's because Trump is a career businessman while Cruz is a guy that desperately wants to stay in politics. For trump losing this election means little to him. He just goes back to telling everyone what to do in one of his many Trump towers. For Cruz, what little chance he had of being the nominee in the future diminished when newt returned the favor of publicity making a stand right after him. The GOP will most likely try to reorganize and try to develop more moderate candidates for the next elections, and Cruz really needed to either stand for his principles by not participating in the RNC or to bite his pride and endorse Trump. Openly challenging and trying to humiliate the establishment in a coranation is not very wise.

How about the Senate Majority leader on the Senate Floor. That's something you just don't do.

It seems that Trump knew what would happen:

Quote:
Wow, Ted Cruz got booed off the stage, didn't honor the pledge! I saw his speech two hours early but let him speak anyway. No big deal!

So he lets Cruz self-immolate on stage and it galvanizes the Republican party for Trump
