Considering they were targeting a series of caves and tunnels I suspect it was pretty remote - like much of Afghanistan.

There's a video of it. A multi-story building is between the filmer and the bomb. It looks like the shock wave knocks down the going doing the filming.

The day they tested MOAB I was in high-school and felt the blast rattle our building in Pensacola.

Considering they were targeting a series of caves and tunnels I suspect it was pretty remote - like much of Afghanistan.

Little more than 3 square miles though. Lot of area to account for.

I have to regard this as more of a PR stunt like the Cruise missiles. The "AB" part means "air blast." If they'd been serious about tunnels, they'd've used a MOP...

I think the bomb's concussive abilities were said to have decent effect on hand dug tunnels. Complex bunkers or fortified military tunnels might have seen it through ok but with the size of this bomb I can't fathom ISIS dug tunnels standing up to it.

From what I've read, this one is good for destroying the tunnels. Something the other bombs wouldn't be able to do.
