MN cops kill man trying to get his ID out

Just had to comment on that he was a Gang Member. Look at his rap sheet.

What we know about Castile• He would have turned 33 on July 16.
• He graduated from St. Paul Central High School in 2001.
• He started working for St. Paul Public Schools in 2002 at age 19.
• He started as a nutrition services assistant, working at Chelsea Heights Elementary and the former Arlington High School, which now is Washington Technology Magnet School.
• He was promoted to nutrition services supervisor at J.J. Hill Montessori Magnet School in August 2014. There, he served meals to more than 500 kids twice a day and was remembered for his patience and friendly demeanor.

This is his long rap gang related rap sheet.
• Minnesota court records show Castile has been found guilty of 31 misdemeanors and petty misdemeanors. They include driving without proof of insurance, driving after revocation, driving after suspension, failure to wear a seat belt and parking violations.

So now they hold the crazy stuff you put on face book against you. On another note parents at the school say he would sneak extra graham crackers to the kids. Hard core gang banger right there.

Let's assume that the victim had a gun in his lap as has been reported. Why would one travel with a gun laying on his lap? And when being pulled over by police, why would one keep the gun on his lap instead of placing it out of sight or otherwise out of reach?

This is what I was thinking.

Broken taillight and the cop has his weapon drawn?

Makes more sense if he was making a stop to check out a suspected armed robber.

To my knowledge, there hasn't been any official statements made on the situation by law enforcement and local DA office.

All we've heard so far is the Minnesota governor shooting his mouth off and throwing the police under the bus....smh....

The governor has to do this. He's a Democrat and the guy killed was black. It's throwing meat to the base.

But ultimately WE are to blame for that. We elect leaders who promise quick and easy solutions and we blast anyone who won't bend to the narrative of the moment. Keeping his mouth shut would have bee a start but remember - Dayton's was a department store that is now part of the Target Corporation, and they, too, didn't know when to keep their mouths shut on bathrooms.

We?

Do you have a mouse on your shoulder?

I didn't vote for that jack wagon!

Seriously - I agree with what you are saying - which is why many people feel Trump represents giving Washington a big middle finger.

Which they deserve.

Regardless of party affiliation...there really should be repercussions for what this gov. said...very very very irresponsible.

Well, now I'm not so sure he was a legit "thug".....don't know what to believe anymore these days. So many, in the media as well, pushing an agenda that the truth is almost irrelevant to them. This is all getting way out of hand too quickly.

The Associated Press is adding buckets of gasoline to an already-combustible situation.
Repeating the story that he was "pulled over for a broken brake light." What is the source of that story? Castile's girlfriend, Diamond Reynolds? Is she credible? Is the audio in which the cop says the driver fits the description of an armed robber at the convenience store legitimate? Right now the police are getting their backsides kicked in the public relations fight. They have got to get ahead of the media, because right now, the media are running roughshod over the truth.
And is it too much to ask that somebody verify whether Castile had a gun in his lap or not when pulled over? That would seem to be central to the police story. If I get pulled over by the cops, the last thing I want in my lap is a pistol. Did Castile have a pistol in his lap? If so, why?

On the other hand, getting pulled over 52 times and paying $6,800 in fines has got to be irritating. Having a suspended license, I might want to stop driving.

True, but these guys are supposed to be leaders. Still, it's up to us to hold them accountable. Problem is, half the people jump to conclusions through the lense of their own biases but that is not enough - they demand others do the same and castigate them for not doing so. Seems like premature e-proclamation (when done electronically) is epidemic right now. The press does it to drive up ratings and perhaps because some have an agenda. People do it because they don't stop to think. Leaders should know better, but alas not only are they people they are politicians - many of them among the lowest of peoples.

It really seems to have come down to a "he said/she said" type of case. Just tragic overall and I doubt this verdict is going to help anything - not that it's the jury's job to consider societal ramifications during their deliberations, but still.

So far, it's been a quiet year in that regard (police/race issues). I hope this doesn't reignite the tinder box with a hot summer bearing down on us.

Well, yes and no.

What began disturbing me last year with all this was folks with the old "I got it all on tape here and I'm showing the world" but virtually every one of them I saw was always slightly edited to where you MISSED the most important moment and we are "told" what happened. The only real exception that comes to mind was the one in Oklahoma who was acquitted a little while back.

That lie "hands up don't shoot" may have done more to harm the bigger picture than anything in the last 20 years.

Not having cable, I had not been following this story.
The video is damning.
If the cop really fears for his life, it would have been better to have the guy step out of his car to defuse the situation.
But if the driver intended to use the gun to harm the cop, why announce that he has a gun? If I was a juror on the cops manslaughter trial, I'd be hard-pressed to return a not guilty verdict.
