I dunno. Georgia isn't Auburn or Tennessee. And we've already beaten them. I don't see how losing to Texas (which already has one of the biggest egos in college football, BTW) is a good thing for the SEC and consideration of strength of schedule. We argue that the SEC is the toughest conference to play in. I'd like to see that play out in the post-season.

They keep reading that UGA HAS 68% freshmen and sophs, I think I read on the Georgia board that Alabama has about the same. With having good recruits, you have smaller senior classes due to NFL exudous.

Tell the UGA players and the Texas players it means nothing and see what they say to you. Maybe you never played football...but if you did you would have never have said this. Tell all the recruits from both teams it means nothing and see their response. Tell all the fans it means nothing and see their response...and the coaches...etc. etc. etc. about as dumb a thing as i've seen on here and i've been reading for years... #comeonman
Wait, that's what you took from my post, that games don't mean anything?

Goodness...

I don't know you, but like most any stranger, I'd wager I played more years of football than you did. Probably more than anyone you know.

But that doesn't matter as that wasn't my point - my point was that the peripherals matter. Do you really think Utah was the better team in 2008? Or that OU was the better team in 2014? When a team (UGA, in this case) in on the cusp of potentially playing for a national championship and that is taken from them, they generally don't prepare as diligently as they would if a championship was on the line. Do you REALLY think CFU was better than Auburn last year? That Texas is REALLY better than UGA this year? That UTAH was better than Alabama in 2008?

I'd argue that if you don't understand this, you never played sports at a highly competitive level. Once the opportunity to win it all is gone, it's difficult to remain focused. That's human nature.

So yeah, for the record, I played football for a minute or two.

Spot on...motivation is a real thing.

Hate to say it, but unless it’s part of the CFP, the sugar bowl has basically become a consolation game for the SEC against the Big 12. And in that setting, the Big 12 is probably going to dominate this bowl tie-in for years to come.

I see lots of disagreeing.

But my point of view is that this Georgia is the 2013/14 Bama post kick 6. Had the world at your fingertips then lost in a horribly demoralizing way.

Congrats, a bowl game you give no craps about.

The SEC fan in me would have wanted all of the SEC teams to win BUT for some reason I'm OK with cks losing. (Notice I said cks)
