I don't know you, but like most any stranger, I'd wager I played more years of football than you did. Probably more than anyone you know.
But that doesn't matter as that wasn't my point - my point was that the peripherals matter. Do you really think Utah was the better team in 2008? Or that OU was the better team in 2014? When a team (UGA, in this case) in on the cusp of potentially playing for a national championship and that is taken from them, they generally don't prepare as diligently as they would if a championship was on the line. Do you REALLY think CFU was better than Auburn last year? That Texas is REALLY better than UGA this year? That UTAH was better than Alabama in 2008?
I'd argue that if you don't understand this, you never played sports at a highly competitive level. Once the opportunity to win it all is gone, it's difficult to remain focused. That's human nature.
So yeah, for the record, I played football for a minute or two.
