Success at the level we've enjoyed since 2008 just don't happen a lot. I'm as guilty as the next guy for being spoiled when seasons like this happen. But I have the perspective that younger fans don't i.e. the Perkins, Curry, the Dubose era and Shula and some of the Bryant years. We've been blessed to enjoy an incredibly long run of an elite program. Bryant reinvented himself and won again and I have no doubt that CNS still has the fire. I just hope he can find that "right" mix one more time, but I'll always be so glad we got to witness this at the institution we all LOVE! ROLL TIDE!!!

Maybe we would have been better off if we ran a fake FG?
I said it at the time - I would have just gone for that given how you defense was playing and your kicking woes. I know that Bulovas has been very reliable lately, including in this game, but did anyone believe he was going to make that kick? Tell me that Bulovas didn't feel the weight of all of those kicking problems on his shoulders when he lined up for that kick.

I agree with the argument that this game is probably a 2 or 3 TD win with Tua. My question is how we've gotten to a point where one player swings the balance that hard. Tua is Tua. A passing savant. But good god, we basically needed our backup to play a Tua 6 TD 0 INT game instead of a 4 TD 2 INT game to win. That's bad. We've got NFL players all over the place and that is what it would've taken from Jones in start #3?

The dynasty lives as long as Alabama remains in the hunt for national championships every year. You were this year. You will be again next year.
We may start ranked next year lower than we have in a long time. Still probably top 10, but still low for us. The media types that rank teams will most likely rank us below their new "it" teams. End of the year we will still be in the playoff talk.

Dude had all year to find a way to take pressure off the ILBs and DL but instead he let the OLBs continue to dead-red after the QB on passing downs and put those guys in no win scenarios to clean up the mess. T
Yeah I felt bad for #35 every time he ended up in pass coverage this season. You'd think you'd scheme away from having that situation.

Actually, a 4TD, 1INT game would have won the game. Just needed to run the ball when you had 1st and goal at the 2 yard line. That 2nd pick six happened on a 1st down play at the 2 yard line. If that pass just falls incomplete, the game is totally different.

Yep, I knew specifically he would hit the upright.

Tua is a generational talent. He’d make any team in the country 3 TD’s per game better. If he’s healthy all year, we are West champs and rated #1. Let’s just run CNS out of town. Who will we get that’s better? You?
No offense, but it's not a binary equation - what's CoachJeff is saying does not automatically lead to the straw man you presented.

Reality is Tua has absolutely covered some serious defensive issues over the last couple of years. It's inarguable - just look at the data from 2018+2019 vs the previous two years.

That is not going to change next year. Coaching is not going to make him into a player that he is not. I think that he is a situational player who is always going to be a liability on passing downs.

It's going to take a dude with a stone cold disposition, absolute ice water running through his veins, to break this curse. I'm not sure an 18-21 year old is capable.

I was being somewhat facetious, but yes, I would agree with your assessment.

I would argue that the only real period of time where I felt like we were head and shoulders better than everyone else in the country was 2011-2013. Outside of those years, there have always been a couple of teams that were as good or better than us. Yet we still won a couple of national titles outside of those years.

Having a talent like Tua covered up some problems. Working Tua the dynasty would have been dead years ago. Tua covered up some blemishes. Tonight, for example, would have been a 14-21 point victory if Tua was playing.

There are no Tua’s on the roster anymore.

I was afraid the inexperience of MJ would rear its ugly head in the game and it did. But CNS was right that people around him had to play well and they didn't...especially to overcome the 21 point swing of the two picks.

This loss is a "team loss" - coaches, offense, defense and special teams (except for Waddle's return that kept us in the game).

That's what so depressing here: there's not just one person or unit to put the loss on. It was a total system breakdown.

This one is tougher for me take than 2013 or even 2010. It could be argued that Auburn truly had the better team both of those seasons. However, the narrative that Gus and Auburn can only win with a miracle is over. Gus has schooled Nick 2 times in a row now at JHS, both times with inferior teams. Let that sink in for a minute.
Well, I wouldn't say he "schooled" Saban this time. Take away the free 3 points before the half, and two pick sixes and the game is different. Saban had nothing to do with those. Yes, Gus pulled one of his "tricks" at the end of the game, but I would agree that we were not given enough time to get Waddle, 50 yards downfield, off the field before they flagged us.

Yeah, but I wouldn't criticize anyone on the offense other than Mac, and even his criticism has to be weighed against everything else that he faced in that game.

The o-line outplayed the best d-line in the country - a few penalties, but their play made up for that
Najee was a beast
Your WRs were all amazing - no drive ended because of a drop
Bolden came up clutch on that 4th down play

The offense had a great game.

Shane Lee looks like a Jack LB in this scheme but I don't think he's got the quick twitch to be more than a run-stopper. He's not our answer for pressuring the quarterback.

Christian Harris seems like he'll be a stud next year and really should've been an understudy to Moses this year learning the ropes.

So it must have been shocking to see Auburn give up that many too...They are rated higher and had “the best D line in CFB.” I’m going to stop there...good luck against LSU.
Shocking to see a Bama defense give up that many points. Very uncharacteristic. Tough lose, but you guys will recruit lights out and be back in it next year.

I know you are a resident Eeyore but I thoroughly disagree with this. A 3-point loss in which the refs gifted the winning team a FG and in which the losing team dominates TOP and yardage but throws two pick sixes != any coach being "schooled."
