I changed it to reflect biggest bust as well.do you mean overrated or biggest bust?
in other words...a player who was viewed as better than he actually was at the pro level or a player who was supposed to be a great pro player who turned out to be a bust?
I am not meaning to bash any player. Its just a question of who had the hype and didn't live up to it.I'm not a fan of this kind of thread. It gets so close to player bashing... but the reality is that sometimes it just doesn't work out for a guy for whatever reason.
I'll say this. I think Rolando McClain had all the tools to be a perennial All-Pro. He should have been, and to me he is one of the saddest Alabama stories of the Nick Saban era when it comes to the NFL. I have no idea why it didn't work out, and hopefully today he is doing well. I haven't heard about him in a couple of years it seems. To me, he would have been as good or better than Hightower has been.
Yeah I shouldn't have even said what I did. For me, I hate it for the guy that it didn't work out for. I don't look down on any of them.What-in-the-name-of-auburn-fans is this kind of discussion?
Not a big fan of the question...but this is the correct answer...The easy, modern answer is Trent Richardson. Such promise and hype and a huge contract that never materialized. Sad, indeed.
I'd actually rate Keith McCants ahead of Trent Richardson - not overrated but certainly a draft bust.Who in your opinion is the most overrated/biggest bust Alabama football player as a pro?
I wouldn't put A.J. in this category. I was hoping he'd get a starting gig, but considering his draft placement, he's performed commensurately.I’m just going to go with the idea of never really put it all together to get over the NFL hurdle and say Rod Rutledge.
I could also name AJ. Two time National Champion, above average arm, good football IQ.
It's tough to put AJ in the "overrated"/"bust" category because he wasn't projected to be a star in the NFL. His draft position clearly indicates that. He's been good enough to make an NFL roster every year and get paid handsomely in the process. Not a bad career.I’m just going to go with the idea of never really put it all together to get over the NFL hurdle and say Rod Rutledge.

Not bad for holding the clipboard and keeping your jersey clean. I've always thought he was a better player than most and more potential than his draft position suggested, but all things equal, it's "worked out" about like most folks thought.AJ is entering his 7th year in the NFL and has made over $10,000,000 without taking the beating a lot of players take.
Interesting perspective about Joe and you're probably right about Stabler. It's just a shame JoeWilly had bad knees/injury luck.Overrated I think a case could be made for “how Bama fans “view Joe Namath’s NFL legacy. Stabler was the better NFL quarterback. Both were better than average qbs, but one has legendary status for things he done off the field, and the other one is a whos who at trivia night while having a better career and comparable and slightly better numbers
As a bust I would say Dee Milner.
Considering where McCants fell in line with 2 of the Best Alabama linebackers in the 80's, Biscuit and Derrick, with freakish talent to boot, he definitely ended up a bust at the next level. Makes you wonder if he had stayed for his senior year instead of being a part of the Jr. Declaration, if that would have made a difference in his professional playing days.I'd actually rate Keith McCants ahead of Trent Richardson - not overrated but certainly a draft bust.
