It took my wife a while to decide to get it, and it wasn’t an easy decision.

BTW we are sitting at northside now after delivery (mom and baby are doing fine) and her doc said he is starting to get more and more positive patients coming in for delivery. The whole hospital situation here Is weird. Hospital rooms are all full, parking decks are basically empty, and you can tell they short staffed. I was talking with a vaxxed nurse who is the wife of a co-worker. She wants them to mandate the vaccine, but her take is she wants to be last to mandate. Apparently there are enough unvaxxed nurses that she was afraid they would all try to leave. She didn’t want them to have the option to go somewhere without a mandate.
Wellstar sent out mandate notice a week ago Thursday. Shot by Oct 1 or they will suspend you without pay for 30 days. Don't get the shot while out on suspension, when you return they will fire you. Some have already applied to Northside because they have not mandated it and they have lots of job openings.

Good for Wellstar. Hopefully Northside will catch up soon with what is for the public good.

I should add that requiring vaccines is also in the best interest of Northside and any other company out there. Having workers out sick and dying and running up high hospital bills that cause insurance rates to rise for the company is not good at all for hte bottom line.

NT - why is it taking so long for the FDA to give these vaccines full approval?

I think that would make a huge impact on helping folks with their decision.

I know it's coming but heck - with the hospitals in crisis right now, you'd think they would do the right thing.

It's the classic Catch-22 - don't speed the process along and catch flack for being so slow, but do speed the process along as happened during emergency authorization and people lose their minds saying it was rushed. Damned if you do, damned if you don't with people who have already made up their mind to be against it no matter what anyway.

Well crap. My wife has Covid. Everyone in the house is vaxxed, and she just has mild flu-like symptoms. They're trying to get her an appt at the hospital for an antibody infusion therapy.

She's said that maybe 40-50% of her students have been wearing masks. It's gonna tear her up of any of her students get it.

Time for governors to get their head out of their asses and do something.

Congrats!

They do need to mandate but I get why they aren't since they were short staffed before Covid I can't imagine how bad it is now

Thanks and I get that - but at this point I don't think anyone can say it was rushed. And if they do, so what?

With the number of vaccines given......4.68 Billion worldwide.......and 356 Million in the US..........it's certainly been proven safe enough for approval.

I'm not trying to argue with anyone here - just wondering what the hold up is......the hospital situation is quite dire at this point!

Sorry to hear, JThomas - hoping for a good outcome for all......

Then why are we worried about it? Why does FDA approval matter if they can no longer say it's rushed?

Seriously, I'm not trying to bust you, but it makes no sense.

Full approval involves a lot more bureaucratic process and takes much longer - that's why we have an emergency use authorization process to cut through the red tape in the first place.

Full approval will not move the needle for those who consider these vaccines poison. Why would it? They do not trust the FDA.

I'm just wondered why the FDA hasn't given it full approval yet.

Not arguing anything else.

From what I understand there are some folks waiting for this to happen.

That's all...

If you believe that I have a bridge to sell ya...

It takes a long time because it is a tedious and long process and there are numerous bureaucracies involved. They are moving heaven and Earth to speed that process along or we would not be talking about full approval until another few years had passed.

Maybe this will help:
