This will come off as a knock on the team (that isn't my intent) but aside from Young, Anderson, Neal and maybe 2-3 others, every starter on this years team would be at best 2nd string on pretty much every other Bama team since 2010.

With all that, they are young (at places) getting better (at places) and are 7-1 and should be favored in every game going forward. I think the schedule lines up nicely with the teams left out and they are better "matchups".

The gap between Bama's offense and all those team's defenses is much larger than any of their O's to the Bama D.

Coach assessment of Will Anderson:

“Will has been a really good player for us all year. And he’s not just a good player on gameday,” Saban said of Anderson. “This guy’s got some of the best character. One of the best people we’ve ever had on our team. He’s got really good leadership qualities. Hard worker, he sets a good example every day. Tries to do everything right and he doesn’t ever worry about the wrong stuff.

“He’s always in the moment, always trying to improve, play the next play. Takes coaching well, really is about as fine a person as we’ve ever had on our team. And it’s always fun as a coach when you have guys that are really good guys that are star players of the team. The one thing that he did do is he did step up from a leadership standpoint.”

Want to amuse yourself? The Vol fans are saying the officiating went against them all game in retaliation for the Ole Miss game.............the refs helped Bama..............LOOLOLOLOLOL
I'm very amused, particularly at all the false starts. I can never really tell from the TV, but was the crowd really loud tonight?

Need some focus on this team.

It’s time to revisit the coverage schemes and the way they are relayed into the field. Complex isn’t going to cut it anymore if guys are staring at the sidelines or the linebackers when the ball is snapped.

Safety play is abysmal, that’s not on the coaches, and Saban showed you exactly who is to blame on the miscues.

Young has begun to add another dimension to his game with his efficient escapability turning into efficient runs that will ensure he has a spy on him which will help open up the shorter routes and middle of the field.

So happy to see BRob getting it done after coming back.

My early thoughts than the usual as we are moving into the new house next week.

1) OC playcalling was horrible tonight. Way too many calls that resulted in negative yardages in the game. Bill went away from what was working early and it took him until late 3rd to go back what was working. I'm starting to think that he is not a good fit for the offense as long he keep coming up with stupid playcallings. At one point during the game, Young got into it with O'Brien and Saban had to come over and calm him down. O'brien performance tonight: D-

2) DC playcalling. I've seen way too many people calling for Golding to be fired, but I didn't think he did bad job tonight. just few questionable play calling here and there, but for the most part, not bad. two busted coverages were not on Golding, it was on Moore and other. The third one, Jobe wasn't ready and Saban talked about that after the game. I thought we did great job for the most part. Golding performance tonight: B-

Offense- Way too many false starts and delay of the game. they struggled to get the run game going. Robinson looked tentative tonight. Offense never got into flow of the game all night. This has been recurring theme for a while now. I think part of that was due to bad play calling by BOB.. and part of that was on Young. He missed some open reads tonight. Performance tonight: C-

OL- Grade: Incomplete. I feel like they didn't do good job with rushing game. they didn't pick up protections at time. I really wish we could make some changes at OL.

Defense- Enough said.. they got enough stops when required... they pressured Hooker all night long. Grade: B-

Special team: Grade: B- If it had not been blocked punt and missed field goals , they would've got B plus

My final thought for the week, both OC/DC needs to use the bye week to tweak few things... correct some stuff. and find new ways to incorporate Holden in the game. that man did some nice stuff tonight.

It's not the scheme. It's not the Golding. It's player who missed the call...

Tennessee had 346 yards of offense. 166 yards of that came off of 3 passing plays. Alabama held Tennessee to well below their rushing average. I still don’t know what to make of this team.
Nobody will beat them if they’re focused. It’s that simple. The vacuum of peer leadership causes these lapses to occur.
