It seemed like a new coach was in order as Marrone appeared to be not a good fit. Hope Wolford can coach up a promising group.

Huge difference in talent he will be working with at Alabama. I mean, HUGE
That was my thought as well. I chose to focus on the positive side. He's going to improve our yard per carries. You know who will benefit from his coaching the most?

Trey Sanders. A better OL will improve his running game.
Right side of OL: C, RG and RT will improve a lot.

Agree generally, but I thought Ekiyor at RG was one of our brighter spots on the OL later in the year and his play was also made significantly better and OC was moved forward a lot by Mclaughlin.

So what I’m getting from this stat is it’s kind of a boom or bust style? 1/4 of the snaps there’s contact behind the line, but the other 3 gain so much yardage before contact that he’s in the top of the SEC? I’ll take that.

1/4 is the worst percentage, the next is 1/5.
Could also be that the stats are determined by the strength of the opponent. Just raw numbers don't tell us a lot. But the eye test tells us that his olines overperformed.

Behind the line contact doesn’t even necessarily mean a negative play, just that there was penetration of the line, typically not good. He’s still in the top two in spite of that which means when things are rolling they are rolling.

Just have to keep our fingers crossed with this hire. Marrone's resume was certainly superior to Mr. Wolford's, with both pro and college head coaching. I agree a change was necessary, and have no knowledge whatsoever of Coach Wolford...so not being negative, just objective.

Is he any good?

That's my only question.
Javion Cohen, maybe our best returning lineman, is very excited about it. He committed to him at SC before ending up at bama

Joe Moore finalist this year and and his olines outperform expectations. And he can recruit.

Hopefully the portal opens up for the lineman he beat us out for in this signing class.

Except is there a single O-lineman who'd make the team at Alabama?

That's a fair question.

The greatest coach in the world cannot accomplish the greatest things with second-level talent.
