Agree, both parties are really only about self-interest and staying in power.

True statesmen and stewards of this country would not allow us to get $31T in debt, would not allow 1M people die from a novel virus, would not stand for mass shootings, would not stand for barring personal healthcare autonomy, would not stand for disallowing reasonable right/means to vote, would not stand for a flagrant attempt to overthrow the government, and would not ignore the willful and intentional acts to compromise our national security.
Only one party continues to use violence, or the threat of violence, as a way to gain power but, sure, both sides. Democrats are not perfect, far from it, but this "both sides" argument only normalizes what the GOP is trying to do, which is to destroy our way of governing. Only one party is actively trying to rig elections, only one party wants to end democracy as we know it.

Now is not the time to be making the both sides argument. The MAGA party is openly trying to destroy the two party system and completely destroy the Democratic Party.

I realize there are probably some evil politicians who are Democrats. The majority of Republican politicians are evil.

People who keep bringing up the both sides argument do not understand the gravity of our situation. The direction of our country will be decided in the next two election cycles.

If you want a dictator, vote for the GOP. We already know if Trump is reelected he will never leave office gracefully. He will try to make himself president for life using some lame excuse about witch hunts, fake news, or rigged elections.

So this morning I did my patriotic duty or whatever.

I abstained from the governor race as Beto has no chance and turns my stomach anyway.

In races with a libertarian - a couple - I voted for them. Then me, it was mostly Democrats down the line except for the judge who verbally slapped my ex down in the divorce hearing (she will always get my vote sort of being a pedophile or bestiality).

And I def voted against Ken Paxton (IYKYK).

I feel like the temporary alliance between Russia and the Allies in WW2. You can decide for yourself which is Russia, LOL.

Actual short version: because the Republicans are defending 20 seats and the Democrats 14. Ron Johnson (WI) may have cut his own throat politically by going Full Trump-tard in a centrist state like Wisconsin.
From your fingers to Gods ears.

Since the Dems will lose the House and probably the Senate, I wonder what is next. I am not looking forward to the next 2 years.
I'm expecting two years of gridlock, which isn't exactly the worst possible outcome. Biden is still in the WH, so he's going to have to polish up those negotiating skills.

While your 1st statement describes politics in general....politicians are all about incumbency, and not about what is right for the nation.

However, 95% of the 2nd paragraph describes Republican policies over the past several decades. I will grant that Democrats have some responsibility over the debt. But Republicans own gun deaths, assaults on reproductive freedom, voter suppression, the January 6th coup attempt, and protecting a Russian asset in the Oval Office.

McCarthy has made rumbling about reassessing Ukraine, and also pushing for investigations of the Biden administration. The latter being another rabbit hole of no significance(like Benghazi). Two years of very little being done, and a lot of wasted air and tax dollars on typical Republican dog-and-pony shows.
