You and others are trying to make it sound like he swooped in with money and took all the credit. He played an active role in the company from some of it's earliest days. He wasn't some sideline investor. Maybe he hasn't innovated but, his companies have. Whether that is because of him or not, I do no know.
That is a gross mischaracterization of what I said. He may or may not try to take all the credit, but some are more than willing to give him credit that is not due. If that's what anyone wants to do then they should continue for as long as they want, I guess.

The truth is he has jumped into the political realm with the Twitter stuff. I think he should have stayed out of it for his own sanity, and bank account, but that means he has to be torn down. He was the darling of the left when he was making cars and shooting rockets into space, but when you make the wrong statement you have to be torn apart. This is true of the left and the right. Both will equally go after someone they feel has stepped out of bounds, and Musk is now out of bounds.

"Wrongthink" is pretty much a crime in the minds of many. What I don't understand is why so many on the right now think Musk is one of them. Musk has voted blue his entire life and is only recently straying a little. I could easily see him going back to his old voting habits (unlike Orange Man, the life-long NY Democrat whose right-wing populism has seemingly erased his past altogether.)

I agree. He doesn't fit cleanly on either side of the political aisle. He seems to really dislike Biden though.

Oh I've pretty much believed he was an arrogant ass long before this Twitter stuff happened.
same. Dude is the epitome of born on third and acts like he hit a home run.

My point on the original response was to him acting like he is not an elite. Like Tucker Carlson who only got where he is due to his Step Mommy inheriting the Swanson Foods fortune. These guys are the very definition of elites.

Understandable considering the way the Biden administration has largely ignored Tesla while championing GM and Ford.
/shrug Maybe he shouldn't be so anti-union if he wants favors from Democrats.

On a side note almost all the major auto companies have full electrics coming on the market either now or very soon. Tesla is about to get squeezed.

I think the feeling is mutual. Musk is not going to endear himself to this administration with the Twitter file drops, that's for sure.

I get it, but when an administration picks and chooses which companies it supports - companies that are key cogs in pushing society towards the 'green future' the administration claims to support, it seems quite petty.

I've seen many here castigate previous administrations for similar political games.

I'm a $TSLA owner, so I'm biased, but I've also spent tons of times researching EV tech. No other manufacturer comes close to Tesla's battery or motor tech, and according to THE industry guru (Sandy Munro), Tesla is literally a decade ahead of every other EV manufacturer in battery and motor tech, and still pulling away despite many of them entering the EV field.

Combine that with the fact that Tesla is currently making EIGHT TIMES what Toyota does (profit per car) and you have a wide margin that the 'old school' companies are going to have a hard time closing.

twitter files is making him look like an even bigger clown frankly
That is a matter of perspective. It's true that there is nothing being presented in those files that wasn't already known, but for some, having it conclusively demonstrated is a big deal. What this will lead to in terms of actual change is anybody's guess. Being the cynical curmudgeon that I am, I expect this will be forgotten about soon enough (except, of course, by the populist right and anti-establishment left. Expect them to continue howling about this for some time to come.)

How is just releasing what happened make him a clown? You may agree with the Twitter decisions or you may not, but he’s putting the information out there.

Twitter is a private company and can sensor whatever they want. You can argue they violate section 230 when they do this, but that’s for a court to decide, but they lied about what they were doing. They try to cover it up with semantics but it’s pretty clear.

The real problem is how much were the FBI and the like involved in what to pull down, shadow ban, or who to ban outright. I have a lot of questions about that. You are now in 1st amendment territory, and the courts have been clear the government can’t use others to do their bidding in this area. That should scare all of us because in 5 years who will be in charge of the government. Today it might be people yo ideologically agree with, but it might not be tomorrow. I want them out of it altogether, and I don’t think they are.

I wholehearedly disagreed with the people who were running the FBI at the time this was all done. Frankly the only shocking thing here is how restrained they were. So far I still see nothing other than Twitter bending over backwards to not do anything until it was obvious that was being posted either already violated their TOS, like pornographic images (Hunter Pics) or was actively inciting violence. Only thing I've seen that even slightly bothers me was the downplaying of the Post story, even though that story was a giant nothingburger that was clearly dropped at the exact right moment for political impact.

as to the "Clown" side. Through #3 there was no there there and he keeps acting like he is revealing something. He isn't and it makes him look like a moron. On #4 he upped the ante with his prosecute Fauci crap over a conspiracy theory and his insanely imbecilic pronoun joke. He is really earning the SpaceKaren moniker

Yeah, the very first one was delivered to Elon, the chairman and product architect, before he was named CEO. That's not production but okay.

Your point was made in an attempt to undermine his role in Tesla, which makes no sense if you look at the facts.

As for the 'releases' - so far I've not seen anything unexpected, but seeing it confirmed is good. For years we've been told there was no bias in Twitter's 'shadow bans" (heck, we were repeatedly told there was no such thing as 'shadow bans').

Doesn't change much for me, but it's interesting to see the truth come out.
