The victim was in a vehicle in the area of Grace Street and University Boulevard when the gunfire erupted. The driver continued along University Boulevard until finding a University of Alabama police officer to help.

Victim is shot at 1:45AM, and Miles is arrested 12 - 15 hours later, charged with capital murder.

I've learned the hard way not to jump to conclusions regarding guilt or innocence, but those two facts don't bode well for him.

Late add: This article says that police interviewed witnesses and reviewed security film, all of which helped ID Miles as a suspect. I'm guessing the fact that he's 6'9" tall narrowed down the potential suspects.

The article says that the shooting occurred in the 400 block of Grace Street. I wasn't familiar with that name, so I checked. It's the narrow street, almost an alley, that runs perpendicular to University, on the north side, between the CVS and the Houndstooth Bar.

When you are 6’9 you better not hope there are witnesses around. There not that many guys 6”5+ for there cops to look at as possible suspects.

This is such sad news. He looked like he was having a lot of fun at court side yesterday enjoying the team's big win even though he just found out his season was over with the injury. He was also one of several players to take the time to pause for a photo with my eighth grade grandson who is a high school basketball player and big Alabama basketball fan. They made my grandson's day yesterday but tonight we're saddened as I shared the news with him. As someone else said, choice's and decisions can have devastating consequences. So sorry for the young lady's family and friends. I'll leave judgement to those in authority. So many lives torn up.
