It's good PR, but what does it really matter if we are #1, #2 or #3? March is all that matters, but I think it's good for them to have to play with the #1 tag. Even if we drop a game or two before the tourney, it's good for this team to have to play with a high ranking because when they get to MM I fully expect they'll be a top seed then and they'll have a target on their back then too!

I'm proud of our Coaching Staff & Players, they've been battle tested, in many ways needed in a Championship type season & we're only getting better n better..

But I won't stop and falter
And if we threw it all away
Things can only get better"

Being the #1 overall seed is pretty important. That would put us playing in Louisville rather than KC or NYC. Much closer plus we would avoid potentially playing Kansas or Kansas St, in KC.

We need to embrace this instead of being so scared of it. We have a group of Alphas that wants to be great. We have a target on our back rather we are #1, #2, or #3.

I was just wondering if the region with the overall 1 seed was historically weaker than the other 4 regions. Like the overall 1 gets the overall 64 and the 2 is actually the overall 8, 3 is overall 12 etc.

They are usually pretty balanced. It usually gets you the weakest 2 and 4 which is helpful in the sweet sixteen and elite 8. But it’s negligible

Well deserved but I would rather be the hunter than the huntee. But again well deserved. New challenge is to keep focused as the top dog.

We’ve got a bunch of kids with really good attitudes that really just care about the team. That’s how you get guys to step up different games. … I just think different guys step up different games, and it speaks to the character of guys on this team.”

That 2002-03 ranking was such a farce. That Bama team didn't even finish the year ranked and lost in the first round of the NCAA tournament. That team came into the season ranked #8 coming off a 27-8 season the year before. They beat a pretty solid Oklahoma team to open the season and moved up to #4 and stayed highly ranked until finally getting to #1 after teams ahead of them lost. After Oklahoma Bama played NOBODY. No team Bama played between the opener and getting ranked #1 made the tournament that year. Here's how those teams finished the 2002-03 season:

Alabama State - 14-15
Middle Tennessee - 16-14
Ohio State - 17-15
UNC Greensboro - 7-22
St. Bonaventure - 13-14
Bowling Green - 13-16
Providence - 18-14
Morehead State - 20-9

When Bama finally played a decent team again (Utah) they lost. They started 9-0 and finished 8-12 after being ranked #1.

That's the only time Bama has been ranked #1 in basketball before this week. That ranking lasted a week.

It's kind of annoying that of all the good Bama teams that 2002-03 team was the first to get a #1 ranking.
