I don't know if it's been mentioned or not but according to Drew DeArmond Twitter Ty Simpson dislocated his thumb on this throwing hand (I think on his last pass of the 1st quarter) but played the remainder of the game despite the fact.
This might explain some of his inaccurate throws.
After watching the game a couple of times now that the SEC Network has it up, I'm going to say Simpson by far outplayed JM in the passing department. This is not to discount several of JM's good/decent throws, but overall, if we are just comparing passing plays I think Simpson wins the comparison in a landslide. Matter of fact, Simpson's only INT came on the incredible break on the ball that Earl Little II made on what was probably going to be a TD pass from TS to Prentice.
Unfortunately, as I've reviewed JM's passes there were at least 3 or 4 passes he threw that should have been intercepted but weren't. Take away his running TD and the great passing TD to #24 he made and he really didn't have too great of a day IMO.
