He’s not worth burning a lot of diplomatic chips to get back. He’s been in jail for two months and I bet he’s had other disciplinary issues.

He is a private so I doubt he knows enough to help NK very much. He’ll be a propaganda tool for them but nobody will take him seriously.

This strikes me as a dog chasing a car. When the dog catches the car, it thinks, "Ruh-roh."
U.S. Soldier Reportedly Cackled ‘HA-HA-HA!’ While Defecting to North Korea
Soldier charged with assault escapes from the airport(?) and makes his way to Panmunjom, joins a tour group, then, when nobody is looking, escapes into North Korea, the world's largest penitentiary. I wonder if he has had his "Ruh-roh" moment yet.
Avoiding the consequences of stupidity by being even more stupid.

I think I first heard about this case here, here's an update:

This case has captured the hearts of most greater Charleston residents, including myself. This girl will spend a long time in prison, I'm expecting, and there will be multiple trials related to the restaurants/bars that served her even though she was inebriated. Yes, there is a bit of hypocrisy here in that Folly Beach is known as a year round party place...but there are limits to what the public will tolerate.
Really sad...

Yeah, zero winners here.

It sounds like this woman will likely stay behind bars until March of 2024, deservedly so.

I wish more people understood how bad alcohol is for you. I'm no tee-totaler but there's really very little upside to drinking alcohol, and there's a LOT that can go wrong when you don't have limits.
