David Pollack let go from ESPN (& Game Day) - along with others....

Pretty sure he is the guy always on SC with SVP talking about betting.
I can’t help but think Marty Smith looks pretty smart by diversifying from just NASCAR into other sports areas. Unless he lost his job when I wasn’t paying attention.

I just hate that they have focused so much programming on gambling in recent years. I'm not anti-gambling but I also don't think it's a great idea to hammer it into the brains of the 18-35 demographic watching Game Day...
ESPN couldn't care less about anything other than the money.

And they probably own part of at least one of these gambling houses.

ESPN announced Wednesday that Greg McElroy has a new college football assignment this fall.

The former Alabama quarterback - and host of “McElroy and Cubelic in the Morning” on WJOX in Birmingham - will join Sean McDonough and reporter Molly McGrath on ESPN’s ”Saturday Night Primetime.”

McElroy, who recently signed a long-term contract extension with ESPN, enters his eighth season calling games for ESPN and ABC.

I was glad to hear that news. I think he does a good job and the more I listen to both he and Cole, they certainly do their homework and know what they are talking about on WJOX. RTR my friends.

Never heard of her.

It's sad how a staple of my 1990s childhood has jumped the shark repeatedly over the last 10-15 years.
Funny I never developed any affinity for GameDay. Guess I just had too much stuff to handle on Saturday mornings prior to any 11:00 am CST kickoffs.

What little I did watch, however, left me with feeling that Davis and Herbstreit added some insight of value. I know some here love Corso, but I always saw him and Howard as, for the most part, clown show shtick. Then they simply added more clowns to the circus year after year.

Now, leave me alone at GET OUT OF MY YARD!!!

Corso's heyday was from the early 90s until the early 2000s. Fowler/Herbstriet/Corso was the only great lineup, and the show was at its best when it was an hour long.

But like everything, people get older, lineups change, but worst of all is the obsessive greed which drives a 60 minute show like Gameday to a 3 hour clown fest that has to be filled with more and more nonsense.

Rece Davis/Mark May/Lou Holtz was absolute gold in the post game show every Saturday night. But that got ruined as Holtz aged out, May was moved out, and Davis promoted. And now the games run so late that I don't think they even have a legit College Football Final show.

It's all oversaturated crap now. I'll join you waving my fist at the clouds.

I meant to say Chris Fowler in my original post. I forgot that Rece only became a part more recently.
And I agree the Saturday wrap up with Rece, Holtz and May was good. It was the only part of ESPN original programming I watched outside of the games themselves.

Me too.

I really don't know who is actually watching these shows. Or if they are just playing in bars and restaurants across the country somewhat like news channels playing in airports.

I have not watched Gameday in several years.

been awhile for me too. I would sometime just watch the final picks and the head gear pick, but once the added the idiot everyone hates, I checked out for good.

Good for Gmac. I think he does a fine job and so must ESPN. McDonough is one of the finest in the business as as play caller.

I agree about McDonough except for one thing: he needs to “dial back” just a tad. It seems like the last several years Sean has tried to keep up with “over the top” guys like Gus Johnson et al. He doesn’t need to. IMO opinion Sean is better than them without it.

A quick question, did not want to start a new thread. With ESPN taking over college football telecast, what will happen to CBS? Will they completely abandon college football?
