I don't know what to say or think, but I do agree with others here. If they leave, then they are the enemy and the heck with them. One player doesn't make a team. I know the staff is trying to keep as many as possible, but all our players seem to see are $ signs. I'm sure Mom and Dad are in their ears, too, because they see $ signs as well. This is why I hate NIL, and IMO should have never, ever, ever been considered. For the love of all that is right, at least regulate it and have some rules worth a crap for it.

Question for anyone associated with universities - are exceptions made to the Add/Drop and registration dates for athletes? If so, how has that not been challenged by some class action of regular students? According to UGA’s web site their enrollment end date for Spring 24 is January 9 and the last day to add/drop is January 12. Unless exceptions are made no one entering the portal today would be able to enroll in the Spring semester and would not be able to participate in Spring practice.

i wish there could be some kind of a program where our former players in the pros could mentor and I guess finance a student player.

Our team seems to be up for bids, bought out from under us, all within the rules.

Twenty years ago everybody thought the NCAA was being too tough and unfair enforcing the rules, now we are seeing the flip side of the coin.

probably changing the rules for this.Giving exemptions to the incoming players.

I don't know that Saban even knows what his "new gig" is going to be. If I remember correctly, I'm thinking he might have said something like "I'd like to have an office in the stadium" and not "I will have an office in the stadium." Both paraphrased and not word for word quotes, of course. Sounds sort of like an emeritus position or something like that to me. I know CKD is granting him 100% access to the program, but don't think he's going to be at practice every day and in his ear all the time.

I don't know. Just my 2 cents, and it ain't worth that.

Hot take......classify the players as employees and have them sign contracts. If another team wants them, they have to buy them out, similar to a coach's buyout.

Maybe that will curtail some of this stuff, because the NCAA sure isn't going to do anything.

You`re right, one player does not make a team. But when all this is said and done ( if it ever is !! ) , the number and type Alabama has lost and apparently will continue to lose may well.
 
I've decided this is my fault. I begged for years for the Washington NFL franchise to get rid of Dan Snyder and hire a competent GM. It's finally happening and now Saban retires.

Yes, you are correct there, Tideflyer. All of this hand wringing going on isn’t accomplishing anything but I’m doing it too.
