I’ll send flowers to each and every program that implodes because of it… Aka Barn, UGA, LSU, Texas, etcI'm sure that that's a risk we are willing to take...![]()

Yeah, but with that Saban onsides kick snicker grin during the organ music. Will you be attending the funerals....you know, out of respect and such?![]()
I shudder to think of the potential carnage at Neyland. Those poor folks celebrated harder than the Toomer's corner crowd after Saban's retirement was announced.i think we will see that if we beat uga in t-town next september
Charles Power, highly respected at ON3 had some pretty high praise for Mincey and Brown.Mbakwe and Mincey I definitely get. I'm a little surprised by Brown getting this bump though. It's hard to read anything into what happens in an all star game, but Brown did not show me #3 CB ability. Did not look as fast. Maybe he had an off day or miscommunication on who to cover.
I did think he showed up vs Georgia and Michigan coming off his coverage and making some critical tackles. Any of us would have to see his overall grades in those games to know. There were earlier games where he appeared to be focused more on his press clippings.I agree. We'll see how the muffs affects his draft status, if at all. It depends on what a team wants. McKinstry was not always lock down, but he generally had to deal with the best receiver too.
can you shoot mustard through a firehose?I shudder to think of the potential carnage at Neyland. Those poor folks celebrated harder than the Toomer's corner crowd after Saban's retirement was announced.
Since the rumors are that khaki pants will take some staff with him, do any of the knowledgeable persons know which Michigan players we might have some interest in if they become available?I'm sure they'll lose some in the portal, regardless, particularly on the defensive side. Say what you want about Harbaugh, but he's one of the best in the game today. Regardless of familiarity and whatnot, so to go from him, to a guy who has only been an interim head coach, is a clear downgrade, and if I'm thinking it, then some of the players will be thinking it.
I would think Saban's retirement pleased all of our rivals, but UT only beat us once during his 17 year tenure, and that was with A LOT of highly questionable calls. I do not blame officiating very often because I know it is a tough job, but that was the worst game I have ever seen when it comes to officiating affecting the outcome. That's it. That was their only win. They rushed the field against a rival. How embarrassing that must be. They celebrated all night and threw goal posts in the river. I can't imagine how they will react if we win in Knoxville next year.I shudder to think of the potential carnage at Neyland. Larry Coker at the U in 2001 is the only one I can think of; but if you were born after 1996, yeah, you might not have seen itI don't know if I have ever seen a first year coach win a national title...
If we can just slow folks down and steal some possessions I think we are going to be in the money. This offense is going to drive us the next couple of years and we just got CB'd for a certain 5* that canceled his Texas visit. When we talk about our secondary next year we will have to use the old Pat Dye line “They’re young Pawl†(every week when explaining to Finebaum why the barn played so badly the previous Saturday)
Lincoln made it to the semifinal at Oklahoma in year one, and I would say thats a pretty similar situation to where we are. An offensive mastermind takes over for a future hall of fame coach, and the train keeps on rolling. DeBoer should be able to pick up where Saban left off, for the most part, especially if we can pick up some more veterans in the portal for certain positions. You make some good points, but I would still say that we have a top ten roster and a top ten coaching staff. Those two things alone could put us "in the hunt." I don't know if I have ever seen a first year coach win a national title, but I think Gus got close at au and others have won it in their second or third years. I don't EXPECT to win the national title next year, but I don't think I have ever expected to win it. There are some years where it felt like a disappointment due to the team we had, but I still enjoy watching us come together from the little bit we see and hear during spring practice, through fall practice, seeing the team for the first few games, and then watching the development through the season. I never take hoisting a championship trophy for granted, though. I thoroughly enjoy winning SEC and national titles and hope we can continue to compete for them each year.
I hope we can, but we will be changing our offensive system entirely; whereas, Riley was already the OC at OU. I am hoping some new ideas can breathe a little life into what we have seen the last few years.Lincoln made it to the semifinal at Oklahoma in year one, and I would say thats a pretty similar situation to where we are. I would not be surprised if Kelly goes to Michigan that LSWho doesn’t go after Norvell. Then you will have had 4 of the top 5 teams this last year dealing with new coaches and transfer portal exoduses. If that happens it won't be just Meatchicken.
They'll go after Kelly and LSU portal comes open if Kelly takes Meatchicken job.
Then, another will open if LSU goes after a standing coach and the dominoes will keep falling.

Lots of teams have started to have a lot more vetting of coaches and plans in place ready to go because of the fallout of Alabama and Washington. Schools know now through backdoor channels if they have any shot at a coach. Schools can’t afford to search once a coach leaves, they have to prepare for him leaving or they will get left behind.
