I think the IVF narrative will motivate voters more than abortion. Virtually everyone knows someone experiencing difficulty starting a family.

Not protecting IVF, limiting access to abortion, targeting birth control, and not funding daycare, the Republicans can't sell any longer they are pro-family...
I never really bought their pro-family shtick, anyway. (Even as a kid, I've always been rather cynical.) Still, as of right now, many Americans have priorities that place abortion and IVF lower on the scale because they are struggling in ways that render these issues more idealistic rather than practical. Combine their financial difficulties with a border crisis that could conceivably lower already stagnant wages and you've got the makings of a population that are very unhappy and an about-face on the abortion issue will not make them less unhappy.

Pence declines to endorse Trump. If he weren’t a corrupt weakling he would speak more forcefully on the issue.

he has kemp beat though

This will be my one and only post ever on politics. All I’m seeing are people fighting back and forth over the same things. This is what THEY want, to keep us fighting each other instead of realizing that we should never have to choose between a giant douche and a turd sandwich.

One guy is a career politician who has had multiple decades to actually do something about the issues, and people think he’s finally going to institute some form of change NOW? The man doesn’t even know what planet he’s on. Don’t even get me started on Trump. Honestly, you have ALL been lied to over and over. It’s all a farce. Just my two cents...

Yep. When you start wondering why little ever changes, it’s because they ALL work for the same billionaire donor class and not us. Sure, we get lots of lip service, but that’s about it.

I no longer vote in primaries, as I’m a member of neither party (both are hopelessly corrupt).
But I jumped into election politics in 2015 when we were about to elect the worst President in history - the most vile creature to ever sit in the WH.
You’re comparing a homeless guy with an IQ of 80 to a Mafia hit man. The homeless guy can’t help himself much, but the hit man makes his choices every day. Though both are unsavory, in much different ways, they are most definitely NOT the same. One of them is a patently evil human being - guess which one.
Probably a good idea you don’t post here much.

Absolutely uncalled for. I already hate college football. Don’t make me hate TideFans too.

Good morning!

People can post here anytime they want and say whatever they want unless it's a violation of the rules.

Further......you would think the regulars who post here would encourage newcomers, regardless of their political leanings.

When conversations are reduced, things tend to spiral downward.

If anything emphasis should remain to be civil to each other and if you don't like what someone says offer a counterpoint or just scroll past it.

Whenever I frequent any forum my goal is to cultivate friendships where possible and have fun.

Lastly......these politicians are getting filthy rich off division. I don't know about you but I'm not going to play their game. Screw 'em!

Thanks for your visit today @colbysullivan - ALWAYS nice to have another perspective here!

Happy Saturday! :)

If you really want to understand our political culture, just pull up the original “Jaws” film and fast forward to the city council scene where they are arguing about whether or not to close the beaches. (Mind you, this is a decision that could potentially save or cost lives.). This scene is one of the most acid satires of American governance you will ever see precisely because it is so dead-on accurate.

Well, maybe...but that seems like such a simple way to look at things - as if "they" all have the same intent and motivations.

Sure, some of "them" want to sow division.

Some of "them" want to radicalize people to violence to get their way.

Some of "them" want people to cheer on lawlessness.

And if "they" can't get you on "their" side some of "them" want you to become cynical and to demoralize you into apathy - because both sides are the same, amirite?

And that lie is just as big a farce, because good men and women doing nothing contributes greatly to evil men triumphing.

As usual, the narratives don't always match the truth.

Case in point: both sides are the same and Biden doesn't know what planet he's on.

Trump is literally running around advocating being a dictator (on day one - and we know all dictators give up power once "they" have it) and destroying anything in the Constitution that stands in his way, including the 1st and 5th amendments.

Meanwhile, Hur said Biden has a "photographic understanding...", but that did not appear in his report. What did appear is the lie that he could not recall the year within even a few years of his son's death.

Cynicism, demoralization, and apathy (taken together) is one of the goals some of "them" have. It builds upon FUD (fear, uncertainty, and doubt) to paralyze people into doing nothing to change or use the power they do have to fight against "them".

That attitude plays right into "their" hands as much as anything else.

This is why I choose never to talk about politics. There is no real debate, and you will never sway the other side’s opinion. This is why the whole thing is meaningless.

I‘m not trying to convince you guys not to have this conversation. I’m just saying I can’t be a part of it because my cynical nature simply doesn’t allow for it. I’m going to bow out now.
