Right. Hips open first, but shoulders stay closed longer. This is what golf coaches call resistance OR separation, I believe.The same is true for baseball....whether you're pitching or throwing from somewhere on the field. If I'm a 3B trying to make a throw to first....if I open my hips and front shoulder too soon that ball is going to sail.
Accurate throws from anywhere on the field all have the same basic technique, that's why its a basic fundamental part of teaching. Building off that is where the real magic happens.
In the UA photo of Jalen. His hips and shoulders are wide open with the ball still in his hand way behind his head. Basically, from that hips and shoulder position he should have almost OR already released the ball if in better sequence.
