The same is true for baseball....whether you're pitching or throwing from somewhere on the field. If I'm a 3B trying to make a throw to first....if I open my hips and front shoulder too soon that ball is going to sail.

Accurate throws from anywhere on the field all have the same basic technique, that's why its a basic fundamental part of teaching. Building off that is where the real magic happens.
Right. Hips open first, but shoulders stay closed longer. This is what golf coaches call resistance OR separation, I believe.

In the UA photo of Jalen. His hips and shoulders are wide open with the ball still in his hand way behind his head. Basically, from that hips and shoulder position he should have almost OR already released the ball if in better sequence.

Umm, well, if you don't win the first one, you aren't so technically, yes you're playing for a title. I'm quite sure he's quarterbacked one more SEC title than anyone on this message board.
This is completely asinine. You don’t “play for a national championship” just by making the playoffs. We did not play for the title in 2023.

And there it is....Milroe has QB'd one more SEC title than anyone on this board so we basically should all stop talking about Milroe. Wonderfully done, stuff like that weakens your argument.

2023 Bama won the SEC despite having a QB as limited as Milroe. That's remarkable. That D played well most of the time, they were much better coached this past season and it showed.

Rees curtailed the offense because he had to because Milroe couldn't do things he should have been able to do. His sacks weren't always the OL....a lot were either holding the ball too long or not hitting the dump off over the blitz. Michigan used his indecision to further confuse him....we were in that game because of our defense.

Milroe may make a remarkable improvement to his game this offseason.....I'd love to see it, but I'm not expecting it.

But you'll support whoever the QB is, that's great. We all will, because it'll be whomstever Deboer and staff has deemed the #1 guy. We has fans have every right to question whatever facet of the program we see is less than ideal.

It amazes me how upset people get when you either don't agree with them or question something they deem unquestionable.

- Milroe seems like a great kid...fact
- He has very poor throwing mechanics....fact
- He seems very good at being a vocal leader....fact
- He is poor at pre-snap reads...fact
- Rees shrunk the playbook to what Milroe could do....fact
- That shrinkage of plays made it very difficult vs good defenses....fact
- Despite all that, we still almost made the national title game
Steele did a pretty outstanding job in less than a year.

Defense was better than it has been in a long time.

This is why he feels most comfortable throwing the deep ball...

This is good news. Hopefully he is training on the mental aspects of the position as well as the mechanics.

Good to hear. Palmer has had a good amount of success as a QB coach IIRC.

Is there an article or anything? I couldn't find anything that mentioned the other quarterbacks. Where did see or hear that?
Do you really think Ty Simpson is gonna sit at home this summer and play video games if he has a chance to be the starting QB at Bama and make a huge NIL case and get launched in the NFL later???

You don't need an article to know some things. This applies to Mack and Longeron too.

Your affinity for Jalen at every angle of the discussion causes you not to see obvious things sometimes.

I know it's not getting any press, but ALL of those Bama QBs are working with somebody this summer.
From what I can tell, the kids start working with QB coaches and trainers before their voices start to change.

One of my son's best friends comes from a football-crazed family...dad is a former college QB and current high school coach, the oldest brother is currently a QB in college with the second oldest a rising senior who is getting looks from colleges, and the youngest (my son's buddy) is also a QB who will probably play in college if things hold. He's been working with a QB coach and personal trainer for over a year and he's only 14.

The amount of coaching and training these kids get from early on is pretty nuts.

Ty's dad is a college coach too. He's getting coaching for sure!

I remember a couple years ago the kid was over our house and said something about having to leave for training...he was maybe 12.

I thought he was talking about some kind of academic tutoring but he told me it was his athletic trainer that he worked out with a couple times a week...some local guy who played in the NFL for a few years.

Seemed like a bit much for a kid that age, but what do I know?

Wow! LOL. I just wanted to see what all was going on with all the quarterbacks, and thought you might have info. See, I have no clue how this kind of quarterback tudoring works. Who pays for it? The school? The student? I'm sure it's not free. My thoughts on Jalen has nothing to do with it. I hope all the quarterbacks are getting the same tudoring as Jalen. You apparently made an assumption about this, and I thought you had seen information about it. And since you offered none, I asked.

It's such a known thing I'm really shocked you don't know.

All the press is about Jalen (and I applaud his effort to get better!), but I was just pointing out as a reminder he's not the only one working to get better.

If middle school and high school QBs are getting off season training you can take it to the bank all the scholly QBs at Bama are doing so too.

But since you asked for proof here's an article from last year that took me 10 seconds to google.

I knew Ty was also working on his mechanics. I just didn't know if he had an outside Tudor. The On3 report and video are from July 2023. But I know Ty has been working really hard to get better. He really wants to start at some point. If not this year, then next year.
