As of this past November, Bruce Pearl was the 5th highest paid coach at 5.65 million, and Rick Barnes was 4th at 5.77 million, so I guess we can expect his salary to be about 5.7 million..

Now to truly earn it, need to make some progress moving deep in the tourneys (both SEC & NCAA).
The NCAA yes but, he has won half of the SECT that he has competed in. Also, making sweet 16's in a single elimination tournament is nothing to sneeze at. In fact, saying " now he needs to earn it" is a slap in the face to him, in my opinion.

Now build the new basketball stadium, I like Nate, we would have lost the Arkansas game under past coaches, all their mistakes aside this team doesn't quit, they're a scrappy bunch and that's about all you can ask for ,that comes from Nate.

Not meant as a revelation (everybody knows the story); just an observation and recognition of his unusual path and success.
Oh I know. It’s something the blabbering heads on TV mention Every. Single. Game.
I’m like, move on folks, he’s far removed from “math teacher”. It’s almost like they want to say he’s not really a coach, he was a math teacher.

Call me cynical, but a top 5 paid coach should be in the Elite 8 every year…at least.
I don't know that there exists a coach who makes it to the Elite 8 every year. The NCAA tourney is such a crapshoot.

If you look at the current top 5 coaching salaries, Rick Barnes is at 4, and Bruce Pearl is at 5. I personally believe he's better than both of those guys. At the very least, I think he's right there with them.

CBB doesn't work that way because the NCAAT is so wild and unpredictable from year to year.

Coach K, Roy Williams, Self, Izzo, Knight, Calhoun etc etc.... some of the best to ever do it couldn't make the Elite 8 or Better every year.

No matter how great a coach is or how great their team is they will inevitably get bounced early from time to time in the Round of 32 or Sweet 16.
