I still think it's too early to judge Napier. I get that the new trend is to have a kneejerk reaction and fire the coach if he's not performing immediately, but firing their coach every 2-3 years is the reason Florida is in the mess that they are in. McElwain went to 2 straight SEC Championship games, and they fired him after a slow start the next year. Mullen went to 1 SEC championship, and was also fired the next year. Napiet just had a very good recruiting class last year. The year before that was pretty good also. He's having to rebuild the program, and sometimes that takes more than 2-3 years. Next year is the year I'd wanna start seeing the results start to come. Additionally, if they fire Napier, they may lose most of last year's recruiting class, and then that would set them back another couple of years.
Not seeing a problem here.

At some point they're just gonna have to give a coach time, or they're gonna continue to be mediocre.
Again, not seeing a problem here.

The thing about coaching searches is that is less about who you want and more about who you can get at the time. Had Nick Saban retired after the KSU game then it’s more unlikely we got Kalen Deboer mostly because Washington had everything in place at making a major run in 2023 but flash forward one year and you get a depleted Washington and it’s less of a real dilemma about what is the better situation. Really the only issue CKD had was that his daughters are at UW.

The point is firing a coach is usually a brash and overly emotional response to expectations and you never ask the follow up of “okay…. Now what”. I think given Florida’s track record they aren’t going to be willing to shell out the money to get Kiffin and they are probably looking at best a guy like Kingsbury but likely another guy of the likes of Sun Belt Billy and Coach Mac.

Just look at their hires since Spurrier

Zook- career position coach

Meyer- Utah HC

Mushchamp- career position coach

Mac- CSU coach

Mullen- MSU coach

Napier - ULL coach

Out of all of them only one was a P5 HC coach that was highly sought after.
Who knows what Florida will do in their future coaching search. It is anybody's guess. Right now, my guess is that Napier will not survive the whole season.

I kinda see them in the Gus Malzhan situation in that they are going to have to pay alot of money just to make another risky pick

Yeah, but their ceiling would be 8-9 wins every year. Sure, they would take that compared to what they have now, but there is a reason no one has hired Stoops away from Kentucky.
I would stay away from any head coach from the ACC. aTm will regret hiring that coach from Duke. He should fit right in though, he looked like a goob every time the camera panned his way.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.
Mark Stoops could probably make Florida relative and competitive again if the gators decide to make a change.
Funny enough one of the names being bandied about in the early stages is one Arthur Gustavo Malzahn III.

That actually may not be terrible. He’d at least stabilize things and get them back above 500 consistently lol.

The only reason Georgia fired Richt when they did was that SCar had just canned Muschamp and it was rumored that they had targeted CKS.

UCF is probably the better situation for him, at the moment. Easier conference, lower expectations, and plenty of resources. I wouldn't leave there for Florida, not with how that AD has handled these last several coaches.

Yeah like others here are saying, Florida needs surgery, not a bandaid. They’re in rough shape.

I believe Napier is 6-10 against SEC opponents. 1-4 against Vanderbilt, Kentucky, and Arkansas. That is not acceptable for Florida.

I do not think Napier lasts the season, but if he does I would be surprised if he goes 2-6 this year in SEC matchups

I think it all depends on who they think they can get to replace him. And you can bet they are looking.
