And there it is.

So that puts Auburn at the number 4 class going by On3 and 247. For all the poor on the field coaching decisions Freeze can recruit his butt off.
It ain't so much the reverend as it is the yella pari$hioner with the "offerings"...😎

you posted a Harsin comparison, but that was in error. What ultimately got Harsin fired was that he wouldn’t freaking recruit. High school coaches at Thompson, Phenix City etc said he never bothered to darken their doors with his presence.

I don’t care who you are, that’s D1 coaching 101.

What buys Freeze time is that everyone knows what he was left with and how big of a rebuild Auburn was, and that he’s actually making an effort to build.

Right now the on the field results a lagging indicator, unfortunately, are a secondary concern, because the PTB see what he’s doing on the back end.
It appears that you are "all-in" with Freeze. I had no doubts...😎

Hardly crowing. This is gonna be a bad bad season unless Freeze can somehow rectify the turnover issues.

At the same time, the progress being made is undeniable. Right now Freeze has a top 5 class (4 on On3, 3 on 247) and it still has momentum and room to grow.

Again, the front end sucks right now, but the back end, the “sausage being made,” as it were, is coming along. He’s stocking talent like mad. Hell, he’s out recruiting UGA and LSU.
"Rectify" is a very appropriate word to describe Aubarn right now.

From an outsider's perspective, it looked to me like Harsin wanted to get fired just to take the buyout and retire early. (Is he employed anywhere now?) Maybe that's not an accurate accusation, but it sure looked like it. If so, I wonder if that was the plan from the beginning or if the bright lights of the SEC became too much for him. Any insights?

I don't think he "wanted to get fired", but I definitely think he was unhappy with the admin and boosters. I think he felt as if he had a winning recipe and he wasn't going to deviate from his blueprint, even though he was getting major pushback from the powers that be. Aubarn has had a lot of chiefs and not enough Indians for awhile now. It would be a very difficult place to coach. One of the reasons you have not seen top tier coaches going after the job over the years.

Harsin is currently working by trolling the barn with jabs on X after their losses :ROFLMAO:

Where ever there's BBQ, Bourbon & Football
"Recruiting" numbers don't carry quite the weight they used to due to the transfer portal. I remember Saban in, 2021???, having his highest-rated class ever. Then one year or so later 60% of that class was gone? We're not the only school that has been victim to that.

That's what I'm waiting to see with the barn. How many transfers will hit the portal, because right now, what they're putting on the field is bad football. I'll also throw this out there, if the current QB's playing aren't the answer, then whoever is still hasn't played one down of his first season as the starter, which we know comes with a crapload of growing pains. It appears Freeze is well on his way to a losing season, so how many more will they allow (regardless of recruiting) before they throw him off the bus?

Recruits want NIL money, increased draft hype/stock, offensive/defensive production, a chance to win a championship, and so much more now than they used to. Right now Aubarn is only offering NIL money and the chance to play early. In High School that is a sweet carrot to dangle. Once the newness of CFB wears off and you realize you are not getting the opportunities that some of your peers who were rated similarly who went else where are getting, that's when you will see mass transfers. We have seen this song and dance before with them. They get hopeful while they are in despair and then eventually reality sets in and they pay someone to leave.

Give me ambiguity or give me something else.

I don’t think he was trying to get fired by any means, but the fact of the matter is you aren’t going to compete in the SEC with any sort of regularity if you are bringing in talent on par with Vanderbilt. “Coaching them up” matters but at some point the talent disparity matters.

I don’t think Harsin is a bad person or anything like that. I mean he made it a point to not miss any of his kid’s football games. Hell, that makes him a good father. At the same time every other coach in the SEC would be using those nights to scout and recruit.

Unfortunately being a successful coach in the SEC basically means you have to have a psychopathic drive to get kids on campus and an absolutely horrible work/life balance.

The expectation right now is that Freeze is going to throw bank at a portal QB this offseason to give Walker and Deuce another year to develop. Ultimately they’re the long term plan at QB.

Exactly!

They soon realize that they can get that money elsewhere AND get quality exposure and development...😎
