Did SEC fine LSU for throwing trash on field?

I think SEC and NCAA really need to look at rule changes for this! It is ridiculous behavior by a fan base. I know Texas got hit with a fine and they used cameras to identify fans that threw trash. i don’t remember the fine amount. But maybe look at tossing coach and yardage penalties. What do y’all think?

At a minimum a delay of game penalty should be assessed.
I think an unsportsmanlike conduct penalty should be assessed and then a delay of game if it’s not stopped and cleaned up and ready for play after a specified period of time has elapsed. And keep assessing delay of game penalties for every time window that passes. If they want to keep actin a fool just march to the goal line for the opponent.

And Texas should be assessed a million dollar fine every time it happens since they started this mess.

There should at least be a 15 yard penalty for the first instance and then get increasingly harsher. I guess one problem would be if opposing fans started doing it...how would the refs know who to penalize?

And it doesn't help when the head coach of the home team is a hot-headed moron who apparently doesn't even know the rules before he starts riling up the natives.

There was a huge issue with rioting and hooliganism in the UK with soccer matches, particularly from the late 1960’s until the early 1990’s. The way they curbed it was by installing comprehensive video surveillance throughout stadiums and the surrounding areas. They increased fines and made stiffer criminal penalties. Also they required a significant beef up in security where a strong police presence was clearly visible.
The basic “campaign” was “We WILL catch you. And when we do, we will enforce crippling fines and/or jail time. And you will also face a lifetime ban to all sporting events in the UK”.
And while it didn’t completely stop it, it certainly curtailed the stupidity. The major thing was they “upped the ante” when it came to the certainty of getting caught. That seemed to be biggest deterrent.
Fining the university will not stop it. The drunk fan in the stands doesn’t care if a university with a multi billion dollar endowment pays a six figure fine The conference should now require more visible security and event personnel and video monitoring systems. THEN it may stop.

If you fine the team or the University, I could see LSU fans going to next year's game in Tuscaloosa, buying a cheap Bama t-shirt outside the stadium, going in to the game and throwing bottles on the field when a call goes against Bama. Tack on 15 yards for unsportsmanlike conduct. If the University of Alabama gets fined, so much the better.

What Vandy did was probably the best solution: put up a net.

High tech solution, place cameras on fans, hit rewind, zoom in, see who a perp was (young man, purple shirt, section 21, row 7, seat 7) , then direct police to escort the perp out of the stadium, and/or charge them disorderly conduct, littering, reckless endangerment, whatever fits.

Let that word get out and this silliness will stop forthwith.

Only thing is, if it’s coming from the visiting team section, then you ought to know what is up. But then again…SEC referees

Yeah, but if they buy their tickets on stub hub, who knows where they'll be sitting?
Not trying to be too paranoid, but stranger things have happened in the SEC.
There is a disconnect between fans in the stands and the teams on the field. Misbehavior by one cannot legitimately cause punishment against the other.

A lot of fans lost the ability to buy season tickets and forfeited current tickets. Plus are banned from all future UTex sporting events
That still doesn’t stop them from buying after market tix. Short of posting pics of the perps at stadium entrances and having the ticket takers to be diligent on looking for these people, they really aren’t stopped from entering the stadium.
