Is there a scenario where we still back into the playoffs?

He must earn his pay. He works for the SEC Network and if there is a conference worthy of 4 teams in the playoff then it is the SEC. There is no justification for a playoff with the likes of Indiana getting a bid as the 4th team for the B1G if you do not reciprocate the same amount of teams to the SEC, a far more difficult and competitive league. Indy would have lost 6 games with the froghorns schedule, among the weakest in the league.

I 100% agree with you. There's no way a 2 loss Miami team is not making it in, and a 3 loss team jumps in over them, that's not going to happen.
Then you can completely forget about good out of conference games for teams anymore. The committee will still want teams to challenge themselves but if you just say the more losses you have will determine who gets in that eliminates that. What is the benefit to play a good team that might give you a loss to start the year just play some garbage team. We need to cancel next years FSU game and 2027 Ohio State game immediately and schedule Alabama southern instead.

The interesting thing is that everyone is saying that this team is not championship caliber. It is not. Maybe Texas, maybe Oregon, maybe OSU (if they are not Michigan). But who else is? Georgia is not. Ole P.., I mean Ole Miss isn’t. USCe isn’t. The point is that standard is long gone. We are in a new age where mediocre teams get a shot. If we don’t get in, then some other mediocre, inconsistent, 3 loss team will. They won’t deserve it either. The only interesting thing will be to see how injuries play out. Will it be the team that has the most depth, the team that can stay healthier through what amounts to almost a quarter of a season of playoff games. It will be interesting. I think SEC teams have an advantage in that they see quality teams most weeks in conference play.

I agree with the sentiment that we aren't a championship caliber team, and that we can't really complain if we get left out. But beyond Oregon, is there a championship caliber team this year? I can make an argument for Texas, Ohio St, UGA, Penn St, etc. as to why they aren't championship caliber teams without stretching for reasons.
There isn't a team in CFB that Bama can't beat if they play like they're capable. I realize this is more of a power rating than a merit-based ranking, but I do think both have to be taken into account in balance. Merit has to count, but if it's merit only we may end up with another TCU debacle.

The only model for a 12 teamer is to take the top 12 teams from the final poll aggregate, regardless of conference affiliation, then line up and play. Anything else is money laundering and petty theft.

TCU is the litmus test. Total failure. Can we learn a lesson as human beings or are we pawns in the political game?

Wasn't that one of the worst TV ratings for a National Championship game? I wouldn't think they would want that again. Bama is going to sell tickets and put eyeballs on the tube.

Many of the experts are pumping SC because they think they deserve it more than Bama..........calling them elite, even though Bama beat them head to head
SC didnt beat UGA or LSU either
They aren’t elite but they are playing consistently well and have acted right for 6 weeks.

They actually beat both Vandy and OU on the road.

They act like they actually want it… put ‘em in if there’s a slot.

IMO, Alabama is more deserving.

Bama has beaten the current AP #5, #13 & #22 teams.
USCe has beaten the current AP #18 & #22 teams.

USCe lost a close one at home to LSU.
Alabama trounced LSU on the road 42-13.

Both of Alabama’s bad losses came after big wins vs UGA & LSU with Vandy and OU both at home with 2 weeks to prepare.

USCe was trounced at home 27-6 by OM.

Alabama has the H2H win over USCe.

OTOH, USCe beat both Vandy and OU. Also, USCe has won 6 in a row. But Alabama has won 4 of 5 with dominating performances over Mo (USC won at home by 4), LSU (USC lost at home close) and AU (USC DNP).

Maybe, maybe not. I could see this Alabama team going on a 4 game tear and winning it all.
That's what I'm trying to say. It's going to happen sooner than we think - a 2-3 loss team gets hot at the right time. More than likely that team is from the SEC or B10 and very battle tested.

TBH, I'd put SCar in over us. We may have more talent, but they're playing better (and more consistently), regardless of the head to head results.
They also lost to LSU who we destroyed, they needed a last second TD to beat Missouri who we skunked just a week before them. They are 6-0 the last 6 but we are still 4- 1 with dominating LSU and Missouri in those games. I think the see the Oklahoma game as the outlier and not the trend. South Carolina not only has the loss to us but that 24 point home loss to Mississippi hanging over their head. I just can’t see how you have 3 teams your looking at and one of them loss to both the other two and you say yeah they deserve it over other teams.

They also needed a last second TD to beat Missouri a week after we shut that same team out 34-0. I also still go back to how can you justify putting them over Mississippi when they lost to them at home by 24 points. I think Mississippi has a better case than they do. We both beat Georgia, both beat South Carolina and have 2 poor losses.
