I still don't think SMU is in - had to score 17pts in the 4th to make it a game; they drop four spots and land right ahead of Miami.

I still think Bama is in at #12

Bama vs ND or PSU on paper draws more views.

But they will have lied again one way or another.

They said Idle teams won't drop AND that a CG loser won't drop.

They will have mislead people on one of those points.

About the only path that I can see for Bama to get in is that the CFP could say something like "We ranked SMU where they were last week assuming they would care of business with their opportunity to win the ACC conference championship. We felt the ACC this year only warranted one entrant into the playoff."
I have a feeling though that SMU will be in, and Alabama out.

Shut up Dabo. If you’re conference wasn’t terrible you wouldn’t be in either
Lost to South Carolina and Georgia. Beat SMU. SMU due to losing to Clemson belongs in, but Alabama who beat South Carolina and Georgia along with South Carolina belong out.

Makes sense if you are a moron. Unfortunately there are a lot of morons.

Still though I reiterate this is a coin flip to me. I don't think Alabama is out, I think there will be two factions and the SMU faction will have a bit more ammunition than they should have had.
