Ole Miss and South Carolina got screwed as well.

Make no mistake, Sankey is feeling the heat. This is a monster HE created.
When Kirby called out Sankey on national TV last night with Sankey standing 5' away, that tells you all you need to know about how they don't fear Sankey. Did you happen to notice the expression on the lady's face when Kirby blasted Sankey?

The guys who negotiated this messed it up by not having guaranteed spots for the SEC/B1G. Probably wanted to see whether the committee would put the best teams in or make it an affirmative action program for lesser programs/conferences. We got the latter. I'd expect us and B1G to have guaranteed spots going forward after next year...probably four if it's a 12 team playoff and five if it's a 16 team playoff. We can then keep those great OOC games and not be penalized for scheduling good teams.

I'd expect that part (1 or 2) of those guaranteed spots could be overridden based on some rock solid OBJECTIVE criteria. We don't want to put bad teams in the playoff, even if they are SEC/B1G teams. Point being, this can be fixed after next year.

I read quite a while back that the above was exactly what would happen if the committee proved unable to get the job done. They got caught up in the heat of the moment and that just can't happen. All those other games mean something too.

I relied too much on the word of the Committee when they placed us over Miami. They used the SOS and win loss record vs top 25 teams. In reality we probably deserved no consideration after our loss to Okie. It was that game alone that came too late in the year that took our destiny out of our hands and placed it a fickle committee that was afraid of last years backlash after Bama got in over FSU. It is what it is.

The issue I see is if you go and schedule weaker non P4 teams, and the makeup and approach of the CFP committee changes in the near future. The CFP committee needs clear guidelines for making selections, not at the whims of those who serve on the committee. And automatic qualifiers need to die a very public death? Boise and AZ State? Are you kidding me!
Why would they give clear guidelines? That doesn’t allow the politics to take place.

You need to read more deeply. The cost to walk away from the ACC is about $140MM.
I'll certainly agree none of us has the complete picture but if this were the case then why are Clemson and FSU even bothering to litigate? Maybe they really are just bluffing and trying to sweeten the pot for themselves. Or maybe they have some white-shoe law firms who feel like the language in the contracts isn't all that air-tight. My mother was in various parts of the insurance industry for over 3 decades. She always said "contract language is just the starting point for the lawyers, nothing more nothing less".

It has been a long battle, and most legal Eagles who have looked into the particulars have said that the contract is very, very solid. Since the ACC knows that they will die if their best teams leave, they will never settle.

Losing to two six-loss teams in Vandy and Oklahoma did Alabama in. The non-conference games had nothing to do with it. SEC teams only playing eight conference games when other conferences play nine looks bad as well.

Whoever did the SEC inter-conference scheduling should be fired.
Can the 2025 SEC schedule be reviewed I wonder, or is that set in stone? I would imagine the ship has sailed on the 2025 schedule, but if not, then that should be looked at.

I think it’s set. We will reverse and play road games vs the teams we hosted this season, and vice versa. The reset will come in 2026. Not sure what the plan is.

I’ve been of the opinion of playing 9 or even 10 conference games. But the schedules must be balanced. And that was with the caveat that SOS would mean something to the playoff committee.

That’s why B1G & SEC need to press the nuclear button.

Should have done that a long time ago
