CKD has been here almost a year, so maybe he can quiet the anxiety he may or may not have about moving down here.
If they just go with Sheridan, just the fact that milroe is not the QB and the playbook opening up more we could see a different Sheridan next season. Milroe is apparently not coachable and would make the best OC look bad. I don't think all is lost if we go with Sheridan next season. If they can find another OC other than grub, who apparently doesn't want to be here, go for it.

Yeah, I agree, and I don't think Grubb is the savior that the Sheridan detractors think he is. He's a very good OC, there's no denying that, but if he were just so good that this season would've been drastically better under him as opposed to Sheridan, then he probably would've succeeded in the NFL. I know it's a completely different animal, but Seahawks fans had a lot of the same complaints about him as our fans did Sheridan.

Plus, there's one thing that 90% of fanbases (college or pro) have in common: unless they're winning championshipa left and right, they all think their coaches are bad.

Hopefully Grubb learned a lot during his one year in the NFL. I feel like Sark did when he spent his time with the Falcons.

I'd be glad to have him at Alabama.
Ahhh, the difference was Sark was forced to run kyle Shanahans offense at Atlanta . It introduced him to different creative ideas and window dressings. Like the orbit motion that was so successful with Devonta Smith. I don’t think Grubb was forced to run another creatively genius offense He could learned from.

I don’t think so either. Nick wanted him, and he may have become one of the great offensive coordinators in the Nation running the Alabama offense with his style to it. Nick would have forced him, to his own benefit IMO, to run a balanced close to 50/50 offense

Maybe that figured into his decision to not come to Bama...

No one can deny that DeBoer and Grubb together did work some magic on offense. If he really wants to come back then like the prodigal son welcome him with open arms. If he came as an analyst, would he still be able to collect the money left on his contract with Seattle since it is not an official coaching position?

I'm reminded of the FSU days where Charlie Ward was handed a complex route tree by Mark Richt and ran it to near perfection, picking up the open receivers on crossing routes to devastating effect. This made Mark Richt think he was a offensive genius, that is until Charlie left and then he realized how good of a quarterback Charlie was and how normal of an offensive coordinator he really was.

May be not, but it should be noted he technically accepted the Alabama job before Seattle threw 2 million at him. So he didn't really have to choose between money and location.

In this case, it's hard to imagine any scenario where Alabama isn't willing to pay him 1 million+ in some capacity, in which case who in the northwest is going to pay more?

I would also add he's actually from Iowa and he went to Eastern Michigan with DeBoer so he's shown a willingness to move across the country to work with him. We'll see though, I guess...
Perhaps his family needs to visit Tuscaloosa and see for themselves the misconception that they probably have...

I mean, we ain't awbern!😎

I would be very surprised if he ended up here. All the rumors pointed to either his wife or both he and his wife not wanting to be in the South, not necessarily just Tuscaloosa.
To continue to pursue grubb after two turn downs makes the Alabama look weak and desperate, take the hint he doesn't want to be in Tuscaloosa.

JMO, but you can bet he won't be offered without positive feedback. No doubt that CKD and Grubb talk on a somewhat regular basis.😎

It was his wife who didn't want to be here, plus I think he's children didn't want to leave Seattle area as well, and as far as his system in the NFL, some coaches are better developers and teachers than calling plays for veteran QBs in the league, some veterans don't want to listen to some college guy, slot of college coaches have flamed out in the league

well Sheridan wasn't hired on merit, so it's hard to see him getting fired after 1 season
He doesn't have to get fired, remember he was on the staff when Grubb was supposed to be on the staff as well.

It was supposed to be Huff coaching OL, Sheridan coaching TE, Shephard coaching WR and Grubb as OC. Half of those guys (the ones with the best resumes unfortunately) bolted and the two remaining got a change in job title and a raise before they started working. Sheridan went from 500K at Washington to 1.3 million at Alabama.

The most obvious odd man out in this scenario (assuming Huff and Grubb came together) would be Kapilovic, it's not like the OL was stellar anyway. I'd be excited about Huff by himself for the record, but not sure what his status is.

But, it is also worth noting that there's no limit anymore on who can coach players. So, technically you can just move Bryan Ellis to an analyst role if you don't want to fire him and now you have room to accommodate everyone in that scenario. It wouldn't be too hard to shuffle people around if anyone got their feelings hurt and wants to leave, that just makes it easier.

All I know is as fans we get caught up in our feelings more than we like to admit. Last year was a failure by Alabama standards. Whether it’s Milroe regression, Sheridan not quite ready to be an SEC offensive coordinator, Deboer in over his head, or whatever may be the case. I know one thing. When you work with people over a period of time you build trust and and you are on the same page most of the time. See how many times Saban gave second chances to not only players but also coaches as well. This is a business whether we like it or not and Grubb had $2 million reasons to take the Seattle OC job. Some times coaches have to taste test the nfl to realize college is where they belong. I don’t know if we get him or not, I don’t even know if we offer him or not, I know that if it will help our offense get better then I don’t care how many times he has turned us down. You get the best in the business as Saban used to do. Might even get a transfer portal or two new looks if we make a big splash move. Who knows but hopefully we will have a better offensive year in 2025. Roll Tide!!!
