We literally have the resources to feed, clothe, house, and give health care to every single human on Earth, but our current economic system rewards hoarding and manufacturing scarcity instead.

As does the very fabric of our social system. Generally speaking we focus far more on ourselves (specifically our wants) than helping others in need.
