Why I Remain Optimistic (and why you should too)...

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Ok so I'll admit my overreaction.....CKD *appears* to have righted the ship. Lets see how things go the rest of the season but, yes, he and the coaching staff have themselves improved in terms of schematics, game planning, keeping the guys focused

You don’t come back into your own thread and say “I told you so.“ You let other people come into your thread and say you told them so. It’s the same reason you don’t text your UGa friend until after he first text s you (not that he ever will) to congratulate you…

Well? Ok, well, let’s see how this staff responds and motivates after a huge success because the same scenario was a miserable failure last year in BDS North. Not being a pessimist, not being an optimist, am being a realist. We were held scoreless in the 2nd half. Both teams had missed opportunities with dropped passes and missed assignments. We’re obviously playing more cohesively than when we went to Tallahassee but there ARE still glaring concerns. If we convincingly revenge the Vandy game I’ll feel better. Until I see that I’m hold my optimistic wannabe in check.

ROLL TIDE!!!

It's still a bit early to say all is well with the program again. We have to see how the rest of the season plays out. In the game there were one or two things that could have easily made the game go the other way. If the Georgia receiver doesn't drop the deep pass or if Kirby makes the correct decision to tie the game with a FG instead of inexplicably going for it on 4th down in the red zone then maybe we'd be looking at a loss and fans saying DeBoer must go.

The Georgia game is a better measuring stick than the previous two games. The coaches can see spots that need work better. Bama will continue to improve. The biggest concern is the defensive line. Injuries hurt. But I think they work it out in some creative way. I am optimistic for the rest of the season. We'll be ready for Vandy. Last year we were not prepared for them.

im pretty sure we won’t have a special teams penalty with two players with the same number against them this year

Everyone here that has been critical CKD (myself included) would be more than happy to eat crow. But this isn’t about a single win over a top ten team. It is about the body of work. So I’d hold off spiking the football right now or projecting us as a playoff caliber team, especially after watching a UVA team beat FSU Friday night. Have we improved since that opener? Yep. How much I think is yet to be determined. UVA gashed their defense for over 200 yards and dominated the FSU d-line most of the game. We couldn’t push a sitting chicken off its nest in that first game. And while we did rush for 100+ yards last night, this certainly is not the d-lines we’ve seen from them in the past.
Am I happy with what saw, particularly in the first half, last night? Yep. But we still have miles to go in my opinion. Do we need to win all our remaining games to rid me of all my skepticism concerning CKD? No but I need to see greater consistency from him and this staff.
As my late father sad often “Don’t break your arm patting yourself on the back just yet”.

If, If, If...ease up would you all. No team ever played a perfect game. Every game has plays that could have gone one way or the other. Relax...

As I watched the game I realized that this team is a work in progress. A totally new QB as well as an offensive system that is much more complex. Loss of DL not to mention the lack of size of those remaining puts LB's and DB's in a bind. We have to out scheme teams that want to bull doze us -- and we did last night.

Best of all -- we flipped the page after a bad play and kept on playing hard. I don't see a championship team this year...but we are coming. Who knows? We sure don't...

The DC looks to be in over his head.

Remember when I requested anyone wanting an apology if we beat uga to be banned? I knew there would be one of these. At least no one started a new thread. Yes, we beat uga. We beat them last year too. Let's see if we can maintain this momentum before we get too excited.
I agree.

The reason I posted this is really the logic in your post. Yourself and most Alabama fans will overreact after a week 1 loss but not after a week 5 win and that's what I'm pointing out.

Because we overreacted last year on the UGA win and learned a valuable lesson. On the otherhand, we didn't overreact enough about the Vandy loss or the OU loss enough and ended up getting severely let down in the bowl game and the first game of this season.

You can tell DeBoer is learning, he's making a valiant effort to turn this around and as I've said before, if he survives the hole he's dug himself. Then there's ZERO doubt he's the right coach for us and he'll win two NC's at Alabama pretty soon.
