Voting discussion thread

You have to take anything posted without citation on X with a grain of salt. Musk has seen fit to keep fact-checkers at bay in favor or propaganda and disinformation.

I did a quick Google search and found nothing about these allegations.
Here's more if you're interested. I recommend using Go Duck Go as your search engine when looking for stuff like this. I tend to get more results.

Thanks. Republican vote challenges have kind of made me chuckle.

For example, my state senator won re-election by 19 votes. Her Republican challenger "coincidentally" tried to challenge the votes of 19 recent citizens. Funny how that number worked out. :D. She ended up with a 24 vote lead once the recount was finished.

15 Democrats Arrested For Election Fraud

State investigators say the scheme targeted elderly residents and those voting by mail, with ballots collected in violation of Texas election law. Under Texas’s 2021 election-integrity reforms, compensated ballot collection carries a penalty of up to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Other defendants include current and former city officials, school board members, and county commissioners across Frio County. The charges range from vote harvesting to tampering with government records, all tied to the same alleged coordinated ballot-collection network.

Court filings reviewed in the case describe how vote harvesters allegedly approached voters, particularly the elderly, under the pretext of offering assistance, then took possession of ballots before they were mailed.

1) Ken Paxton - LOL! This guy is corrupt even by the unusually large standards of Texas corruption.
2) Lotta smoke - let's wait and see if there's an actual fire since as the old saying goes, "You can indict a ham sandwich."
3) Really? The Gateway Pundit? The Huffington Post of the right-wing?

I'm not ready to say it's "nothing" yet.

But I'm gonna have to see a whole lot more than "the impeached Republican Texas AG indicted for securities fraud who filed a brief to SCOTUS to throw out the electoral votes in four states in 2020 claiming voter fraud (but was too cowardly to use that word) SAYS something happened," too.

I live here as a "permanent residence." This guy is a scumbag even by the low standards of our politicians. And yes, it WOULD be just like him to go down to the brownest area of Texas and pull this.

The United States Postal Service has announced a proposed new section to its mailing standards that would have a major impact on the return of mail-in ballots, as it would shift the responsibility to the voter to confirm the exact receival date by the postal service.

USPS realizes that with their new mail processing system, the postmark is no longer proof of the date that it received a piece of mail. Their solution is to make the customer — in the case of ballots the voter — responsible for confirming the receipt date of their piece of mail. It will be up to the voter to obtain proof of date of receipt, or without it, a ballot may not be counted.

Would love to see her in a debate with Trump.....lol.....

California gubernatorial hopeful Katie Porter snapped and tried to storm out of an interview after being asked a simple question about President Trump — with the Democrat raging “I don’t want this all on camera.” Footage of the bizarre encounter, which aired on Monday and quickly started going viral, captured Porter flipping out when the reporter asked how she planned to win Republican votes as she tries to replace Gov. Gavin Newsom.

With all her free time, you'd think Big Kate would be better prepared to answer simple questions. 🤷‍♂️

And, I haven't seen a forehead like that since Abdullah the Butcher was terrorizing the squared circle.

That woman be hit with the ugly stick. Is she related to Sara Huckabee? :D

That being said, Harris carried California by over 3 millon votes out of 12 odd million votes cast.

Knowing the dichotomy between Democrats and MAGA, I would think it foolhardy to spend a lot of campaign resources trying to convince voters to pull the lever for you when they would have no intention of doing so.

LOL, what a nitwit. Yeah, she's ready to be governor.

BREAKING: Democrat voting rights groups are now frantically preparing for the Supreme Court to ABOLISH the Voting Rights Act districts, resulting in a whopping *+19 MORE REPUBLICAN HOUSE SEATS* being added.

Holy smokes.

These districts are drawn for minorities to favor Democrats - but SCOTUS is on the verge of overturning it, per POLITICO.

"That calculation...would all but guarantee Republican control of Congress."

The case: Louisiana v. Callais, will be heard by SCOTUS in one week.

SCOTUS Justice Clarence Thomas is sure to take a torch to this ridiculous practice of drawing districts based on race.

END IT ONCE AND FOR ALL!

Would you want to keep running elections knowing people were actively targeting the security of your systems and likely subject you to endless future litigation? You take money and run. Go do something else more fun.

Fascinating. Dominion Voting was just bought out.

Why would a company set to collect over $3 Billion in judgements hastily sell out for $225 million? What am I missing here?

I addressed this in my comment. This is just plain weird.

After ten months, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson’s Bureau of Elections has produced the constitutionally-mandated audit of statewide results from the 2024 election, but it missed reviewing any ballots from two of the state’s most populous cities.

Made public on October 13, the audit’s risk-limiting, statistical methodology reviewed “a random sample of ballots drawn statewide.” But the sample precinct batches didn’t include any ballots from Detroit (Wayne County) or Troy (Oakland County). Detroit and Troy are the largest cities in the state’s two most populous counties.

The Michigan Department of State press release said, “the report affirms Michigan’s election integrity and accuracy.” It went on to quote Benson: “Careful, detailed and thorough post-election audits are critical to election security and accuracy.”

Troy is a small city of ~87,000 people. It is N12 in population in MI.
Omitting Detroit is more interesting.
Omitting Detroit tells me one of two things; 1) they didn't like what they found in Detroit and decided to hide it or 2) things are so effed up in Detroit that they couldn't even perform an audit. I vote for 2, but maybe 1.
