Coaching carousel 2025-26

  • HELLO AGAIN, Guest! We are back, live! We're still doing some troubleshooting and maintenance to fix a few remaining issues but everything looks stable now (except front page which we're working on over next day or two)

Thanks for your patience and support! MUCH appreciated! --Brett (BamaNation)

if you see any problems - please post them in the Troubleshooting board!

Lashlee was the "OC" for them in 2013... Being connect to Gus with a slight credit for a win over Alabama he knows they will pull up and dump generational cash over him. Even better, he can sign a 7-10 year contract, get fired in three years with a huge buyout, and then coach at other places.

Wise move on his part.
The talk in Fayetteville, if they land Lashlee, he would reach out to Gus to come to Fayetteville from FSU as his OC. 😂😂😂

Interestingly, I heard on WJOX this morning that Freeze at Auburn has moved ahead of Napier on the “Next Coach to be Fired” odds board.

Things could get interesting in SEC coaching carousel. It is heavily rumored already that Arkansas is very interested in Lashlee, a former player there and from down the road in Springdale. Jerry Jones, the Cowboys owner and Arkansas alumni, has already made comments that he thought Lashlee would be his choice. Whether jones would reach into his pocket to make that happen, remains to be seen. The other target as mentioned would be Jon Sumrall at Tulane.

Where things would get interesting if Auburn decides to rid themselves of Freeze and Kentucky does the same with Stoops. Fans at UK are ready to move on, but the question is will the PTB reach in to their pockets for the $34 million buyout? One thing for sure. If UK misses out on Sumrall, a former UK player,, and he ends up at Auburn (Sumrall coached down the road at Troy before Tulane and is from Huntsville) their fanbase will go into complete meltdown.

Lashlee is in the catbird’s seat. He can play Arky and Auburn against each other or negotiate a bigger deal at SMU (currently at $2.6 million/yr) if he does want to stay in Dallas.
Wasn’t Kentucky hailing Stoops as the winningest coach in their history like last year or something?! 😂

After last week’s loss to UGA, Stoops was asked about his “job security”. His reply was similar to Ogre was saying just before LSU canned him. Something like “I’m coaching here until they don’t want me coaching here…”

In other words, “I ain’t quitting. So if you want me gone, fire me and pay me to walk out the door”.

This is the problem for Kentucky. They own Stoops $34 million to say “goodbye”. The question is “we live for basketball. Is it worth paying his buyout?”

One of my best friends lives in Lexington. He played at East Carolina but has worked in several athletic departments in the SEC and ACC. He said “the folks that care about football want a change and they want Jon Sumrall at Tulane. The basketball folks are the 800 pound gorilla however. They are indifferent about Stoops and football”.

The whole buyout business is out of hand. How does it work in the NFL? They don't have buyouts, do they?

UAB needs to make a run at James Franklin.

Just glad to see Dilfer gone. He destroyed so much.
UAB needs to fire Mark Ingram first. He completely destroyed that program. Basically ran Bill Clark off and instead of hiring Bryant Vincent and keeping the entire WINNING staff in place, he runs off everyone and hires Dilfer who has completely destroyed everything Clark had built. Ingram deserves more of the blame then Dilfer does imo.
