Bama Game Thread: Bama PostGame Thread - Bama vs. OU...

Not our most rational reactions, friends. Reading through about half this thread has me a little sad and bewildered, and not about the team.

It's a good Oklahoma team. Good predictors estimated that we'd be 8-2 right about now, and that that would be a successful season and position us well for the playoffs. That's what happened. We've beaten Georgia, Tennessee, and LSU, and four ranked teams in a row. A bunch of coaches on this team, and a bunch of players, know what they're about.

I feel pretty good about the loss. We should have won. That's better than: we should have lost. Still worse than: we won.

A bunch of y'all are all worked up about CKD and Grubb, but the plays they design don't account for 1 fumble, 1 INT/Pic6, and one missed FG which accounted for 17 point differential.

If our players don't make these mistakes, we are relaxing and celebrating a two-score win tonight.

But because these players make these specific mistakes (and many other ones in the course of the game) we want to whine about the coaching.

Yes, coaches make mistakes in calls/judgments, but this game is on the players for the on-field mistakes!
All I’m saying is you can fault both and both share the blame.

We’ve got to get better everywhere on the offensive side of the ball.

It still blows my mind that we’ve largely gotten the defense figured out. For all the bluster about OU’s defense, Alabama’s is a lot better.

Yeah, call my surprised that our defense has kept us in every game this season. They’ve largely cut down on the big busted plays from earlier in the season. We’ve lost or almost lost every game except Florida state because of offense

They usually come up with a take away too..but unfortunately missed on the two potential interceptions...SO many things went OUs way and we still only lost by 2. It hurts but that was possibly the worst we could play today

I don't blame any individual player, it was a team loss. OU came to play and their defense is one of the best in the country. Turnovers are part of any game, but give credit to their defense, they were fast and aggressive and we had no answer.
Alabama had plenty of answers: scored 3 TDs, moved into position for a short FG, gained over 400yds, had 23 FDs. All of this vs the statistically best D in the SEC. So, yes Alabama had plenty of answers just not enough in light of TOs and ST failures.

Then why doesn't Bama bring their A game every week?
They would be the first team in history to do so. Coach Bryant nor Coach Saban never came close to it, nor anyone else of whom I’m aware, and they were the two best.

The margin for error is razor thin in the SEC today. Though Alabama is ahead 17-7, OU has almost double the # of NCs as the 3rd place teams in the SEC. LSU 4, and Texas 4 are third. So, it’s not like Alabama was playing and lost to a scrub.

Alabama had one of the top TO ratios in the country coming into the game, OU one of the worst. It’s college football - the tables turned.
