Bama vs. Indy in the Rose Bowl - Jan. 1

Aight. We are way past the 24 hour rule. Time to focus on taking down the Hoosiers. I wonder, do their fans now say, "We are a football school?"

So, what ya got???

I feel better about this one than the last 3 games.

IU fans are super over confident and cocky online right now.

Talking crazy trash about how we have no chance.

I do think their team is well coached and really good but they aren’t so great they can just show up and expect to blow us out.

If the Bama team shows up from the last 3 Quarters of the OU game we will either Beat them or give them the closest scare they’ve had all year.

Please don't be hard on the Hoosiers. They have never been there. And after New Year's Day it will be obvious they are not going to get there this year. I recall that as a student at Wake Forest many years ago (1956-60) the fans would go wild if we got a first down. Alabama fans just do not understand the havenots.

The professor is correct. I left Huntsville to go to Washington University in St. Louis. They gave me an amazing scholarship and I could not pass it up. Great school.

One of our football cheers was "That's OK! One day you'll work for us!"

I can’t cut them slack. They’ve had a GREAT Basketball program before and know what it’s like to be a fan of a Championship program.

They were coming into the Game Thread and Post Game threads on r/CFB and saying they were neither impressed with Bama or OU and that they would wax either team.

If we beat them in the Quarterfinals I’ll probably use my Alt Reddit account on there and get it banned because I will go scorched earth on them.

I can’t stand fans like that. I historically shouldn’t even respect them and yet I’ve still been complementary to their team for 2 years and was sincere with it.

I want to SKULL DRAG them in Pasadena now.

I'll be honest. I didn't watch any of their games until they played TOSU in the B1G CG. I'll admit that I thought TOSU would handle them. So, I was impressed with their talent and toughness. They are well coached too.

I'm not sure how their B1G schedule compares to our SEC schedule. One thing I know is just because you win all your games doesn't mean you are exceptional. It means you are just better than the teams you played on your schedule. To their credit, they were. Texas A$M looked pretty good too playing the first 11 games on their schedule, but then reality struck. They were a house of cards that played an easy schedule.

I'm not saying the same is true with Indy. And, before we get way ahead of ourselves, nobody on our team has been on a championship team at Bama. Same for them.

I think we'll need to bring our A game and they will too. We'll see!

Going into Autzen and beating Oregon the way they did was impressive...they threw a pick six and still beat OU by 10 and were the more physical team. They also tended to dominate teams they were supposed to dominate

They might be overrated somewhat because they beat tOSU, but it's not like Vegas and others are ignoring their schedule. While we played a tough schedule, they played a few tough games and yet also dominated it for the most part

The impressive part is that we (and UGA, Oregon, tOSU, etc) are noticeably more talented, but they've been coached up so well that they're playing as well as/better than

Indiana is difficult to assess.

They routed their last two cupcake OOC games, 129-9, and they struggled with Old Dominion (27-14), but that was also the season opener, so cut them some slack there.

The did smash Illinois with a 63-point explosion, but keep in mind they had an off week, and the game was at home. They struggled against Iowa, scoring 20 points against a team that gives up 15.2, but won.

They're living off that "they beat Oregon in Autzen," but they had an off week before that game, too, and while Oregon also had an off week, they'd just played a double overtime game on the road that they'd barely won against Penn State.

Their reputation is being made off of three games this year:
a) they blew out Illinois and scored 63 points
b) they beat Oregon at Autzen
c) they beat Ohio State by any score at all

But then have you actually looked at Ohio State's schedule?
Who did THEY play?

They beat Texas AT HOME by a TD. OK, we'll spot them the September mulligan. But Florida and Georgia had easier times with Texas and in all honesty, Mississippi State should have beaten the Longhorns as well. The rest of their schedule was Illinois and the big game against Michigan. And as a reminder, Oklahoma did about as well against Michigan as Ohio State did, though OU had them at home and the Buckeyes went to Ash Arbor.

The brutal truth is that both teams played the equivalent of a one- or two-game schedule and bear in mind Indiana needed a miracle to beat a Penn State program in transition.

While I don't think you can go off of this, Alabama and Indiana both played Wisconsin at home and both won by 24 points. Statistically, our pass defense is a little better than theirs, and their run defense is a little better than ours.

They've scored a lot more points than we have, but of the 136 FBS teams, they've played defenses ranked 105, 118, and 125, in addition to an FCS team. The worst defense we faced was ULM (117th) along with Eastern Illinois. On the flip side, we've both played two defenses in the Top Nine.

They turn the ball over a little less than us - but that might also be because they were in a lot of blowouts, too. Their QB has been money in the red zone (22 TDs, 0 INT).

We are almost playing with house money, and we have an advantage: we've been in big games before, they really haven't except for the Ohio State game...which was in their own backyard. We were in Pasadena just two years ago.

I think the "talent" angle is something I hope we can work into the game plan. As in, I sure wish we could find a way to hit some homeruns against them. AKA...jump on 'em fast and furious, but then don't back off and/or get comfortable.

IIRCows correctly, Heisman QBs don't tend to play well against Bama for some reason....
I don't know about that. Cam Newton, Johnny Manziel, and Joe Burrow beat us. We also lost to a couple of Heisman runner-ups (Deshaun Watson and Trevor Lawrence). And that was in the Saban era when we had better defenses.

That was a fun trip down memory lane…that means the odds are in our favor, right? 😁

We did manage to beat Kyler Murray and Jayden Daniels so it's not impossible, but we've lost more than won. We'll have to try and win a shootout with IU. I think they'll score 30+ so we need a big game from Simpson, perhaps his best of the year.

They didn’t hang 30+ on Ohio state. I think our defense can normalize them compared to the rest of the schedule they played.
